Alec Baldwin won’t host Oscars again

Alec Baldwin says the Academy is going to have a tough time trying to find a host for the Oscars next year because no one wants to risk headlining the show when there’s no reward. Baldwin, when asked about hosting the Academy Awards during an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, said he would never do it again. He co-hosted with Steve Martin in 2010 and says the job is thankless and pays “chicken feed.” The producers of the awards show have found it difficult to convince well-known celebrities to host it over the past few years. Baldwin knows why: “Everyone who has done it lately has been crucified.” That includes this year’s host, Ted director Seth MacFarlane, whose performance was unceremoniously attacked by most critics. Baldwin suggested Ellen DeGeneres should host again and, if they can’t convince her, “they’re going to have to go dig somebody up from a cemetery.” ~Cassie Jasinski
