Alexander Skarsgard cast as Tarzan in new movie

After a noticeable absence, Tarzan is coming to the big screen once again! Warner Brothers announced Tuesday that July 1, 2016 is the release date for this 3D feature-length production, which is already boasting an impressive cast and team. True Blood‘s Alexander Skarsgard will star as the orphan raised by apes in the deepest jungles of Africa, while The Wolf of Wall Street‘s blonde bombshell Margot Robbie will play the central character’s love interest, Jane Porter. Hollywood veterans Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz will also play roles. Harry Potter’s David Yates is set to direct, and Jerry Weintraub is teaming up with Alan Riche and David Barron to produce the film.

Warner Brothers’ Greg Silverman released a statement about the newly assembled team: “We have assembled a phenomenal international cast to tell this extraordinary story. Warner Bros. has also enjoyed long and successful collaborations with both David Yates and Jerry Weintraub, and we look forward to seeing what they and the entire team have in store for this timeless tale.” ~Yara Matar

How can this possibly be good? I like Skarsgard and Christopher Waltz is awesome so maybe they can pull it off. But are people really going to get excited about Tarzan?! He’s a stupid ape-like man swinging on vines!
