Amanda Bynes’ parents denied conservatorship

Amanda Bynes‘ parents Lynn and Rick have failed to secure an immediate conservatorship over their daughter’s financial and personal affairs, according to E! News. In the petition filed at Ventura County, the parents of the 27-year-old actress state: “We are deeply concerned that Amanda poses a substantial risk to herself, to others and to property based on recent events in her life.” In the documents, Bynes’ parents reveal that she has an obsession with body issues, which explains why she calls other people “ugly.” It also goes into more detail about her odd behavior: “She would cover smoke alarms with towels, tape windows shut, and cover her car’s dashboard with cardboard and tape” in the belief that she was being tracked by cameras.

The parents also expressed worry over their daughter’s excessive spending. Amanda, who reportedly has $3.3 million in assets, has allegedly been spending most of her money on marijuana, plastic surgery and illegal substances. In the period between May 3, 2013 and July 19, 2013, her estimated spending is reported at $63,000. Bynes’ parents were present at Ventura court this morning, where judge Glen Reiser stated he would like to meet Amanda on August 9 before making a decision on a conservatorship. “This conservatee at some point needs to be here,” said Reiser. “I need to have a dialogue with the proposed conservatee to get a gauge, I have every expectation that she will be here.” Amanda remains in the psych ward and has not yet been informed of the hearing. ~Alfonso Espina
