American Horror Story leads Emmy nominations

American Horror Story: Asylum led this morning’s Emmy awards nominations announcement with 17, followed closely by Game of Thrones with 16 nods. But it’s Netflix’s House of Cards that made Emmy history with a nomination for outstanding drama series, marking the first time an online program has been recognized as being equal in quality to TV programs. Also in the running for top drama are Downton Abbey (PBS), Breaking Bad (AMC), Game of Thrones (HBO), Mad Men (AMC) and Homeland (Showtime). Another Netflix program, Arrested Development (which originated on traditional TV), received three nominations, including one for “Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series” for Jason Bateman. He’ll be going up against Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory), Matt LeBlanc (Episodes), Don Cheadle (House of Lies) and Louis C.K. (Louis). See below for a list of nominees:
