The American Idol male contestants performed Tuesday instead of Wednesday because female contestant Crystal Bowersox was sick and had to be taken to the hospital. She was present and ready to perform on Wednesday, and said she felt a lot better than she had 24 hours prior, but it was never revealed what she’d been stricken with. However, she took to Twitter to announce: “Don’t worry, my ‘beetus (diabetes) is under control. Thanks for all your well wishes, thanks to the boys, and the producers!!” Crystal put in a solid performance and received rave reviews from the judges, with Simon Cowell comparing her performance to the moment the AI judges realized what they had in Kelly Clarkson. ~Alexandra Heilbron

Allison Kugel talks to Paula Abdul about her current tour of North America, her beginnings as a dancer, the accident that almost ruined her career and more!
i havent watched this yet this season. shes adorable though.
I don’t know about adorable…her teeth look like the “Before” shot in a Crest Whitestrips commercial. Chick can wail, but she should do a bit more singing in the shower if you know what I’m sayin.
well, the picture makes her look adorable. some people cant afford to pay for dental care, theres no reason to insult them over it.
Crystal, Happy to hear you are doing better,my brother has been diabetic since the age of 3 …we have been through reactions, insulin changes, convulsions, comas, near death and 48 years later he is still here. Keep fighting Crystal. YOU….are the one to beat. Your originality, truthfulness to yourself and sheer determination and hope…not to mention your AMAZING VOICE…are something to contend with…keep the faith Crystal…and ignore all the naysayers. this competion is about singing. Not dentistry!
sorry to hear about your brother alex. i agree with your comment. i also believe the contest is about singing and NOT perfection.
The contest is NOT about singing, or at least not only about singing. The judges have said that themselves when they gave critiques. It is about the “whole package” — so how they look, how they dress, how they carry themselves; all that in addition to the voice.
