American Idols triumph at AMAs

Carrie UnderwoodThe American Music Awards aired in spite of the writer’s strike, thanks to the fact that the script was already completed when the strike began. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the show, which found American Idol winner Carrie Underwood picking up three trophies—for favorite country album, favorite country female artist and an audience award for favorite artist. Chris Daughtry, an American Idol contestant, and his rock band Daughtry also hit the podium three times, winning favorite pop-rock album, breakthrough artist and adult contemporary artist. Other big winners included Rihanna and and Justin Timberlake.

    Great to see the “Idols” continuing to show everyone how it’s done! The “Soul Patrol” was sadly under-represented, though!:( Don’t worry, you’ll get ’em next year, Taylor!

    Agreed; since its debut some years ago, AMERICAN IDOL has really raised the bar of American popular music.

    Great and honest burn Honest Phil. But I have to agree with the Anonymous brothers and applaud the Idols they are pretty talented.
