American Music Awards 2016 – Drake’s ‘Bad Blood’ parody and list of winners

Drake sings Bad Blood parody

Ariana Grande may have grabbed the top honor at the American Music Awards, but it’s Drake who has won over audiences.

The Toronto native, who nabbed four trophies throughout Sunday night’s (Nov. 20) AMAs ceremony, delighted fans and set the online community ablaze with his version of Taylor Swift‘s Apple Music commercial.

The parody features Drake lip syncing and later singing along to Taylor’s hit “Bad Blood” while pumping iron in the gym. The ad, which aired during the show’s telecast, mimics Taylor’s Apple Music commercial from earlier this year where she eats on a treadmill and raps along to Drake’s “Jumpman.”

In the commercial, the 30-year-old “Hotline Bling” rapper waits for his friend to exit the gym before playing Taylor’s song. He becomes consumed by the catchy track and loses control of a bench press because “Bad Blood” is so “distractingly good.”

The telecast, which was broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles and cohosted by Jay Pharoah and Gigi Hadid, featured performances by Justin Bieber, Fifth Harmony, Lady Gaga, Green Day, John Legend, Bruno Mars, Shawn Mendes, The Weeknd, and Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.

Aside from Ariana and Drake, winners included Selena Gomez, Adele, Justin Bieber, Beyoncé and Zayn.

Drake garnered the most nominations this year with a total of 13.

Check out the full list of winners below, as well as Drake’s Apple Music commercial.
