America’s Got Talent contestants burned in fire accident

Near disaster struck during round two of the America’s Got Talent semi-finals after Piers Morgan buzzed the gymnastics dance group Gymkana. One of the gymnasts caught the edge of a ring that was on fire, and when he came crashing to the floor, the ring fell on top of him. The audience gasped and judges Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel leapt to their feet as the young man stayed down until the ring was lifted off him. One of the performers holding the ring also sustained a burned arm. Piers, who was booed by the audience, tried to defend his use of the buzzer, telling the group: “You’re very good at what you do, it was very repetitive though… I think when it goes as badly wrong as it just went… obviously when you have someone lying with fire all over him, it’s not been a good day at the office.” Host Nick Cannon interrupted Piers, saying, “Well personally I think you buzzing them made them nervous and maybe caused the accident.” Piers also buzzed pole dancer Stephen Retchless and skipping rope act Summerwind Skippers. Later in the show, when he criticized crooner Landau Eugene Murphy, an audience member shouted out: “You’re evil!”

Perhaps the rules of the show should be changed… when there is a dangerous stunt being performed, the buzzer should be utilized only AFTER the act has finished performing.

I suppose the buzzer is required for its “entertainment value”, but why aren’t the judges’ comments after a performance has finished enough? I would prefer the show without the buzzer anyway, especially when the performers are kids under the age of, say, 10.

I agree with the above comments about the buzzer and would like to add, I have been in the audience of this show and it taxes the nerves just hoping for a chance to display talent, nationally; let alone the chance of winning. To have a judge whose sole purpose is to portray the role of “antagonist” may make for authentic reality TV, but honestly, the whole platform is silly. This is a serious production…not the GONG SHOW from the mid-70’s. I pray that the burned talent is OK and gets picked up by a legit talent agency. They deserve it!

does it bother anyone else its called “America’s Got Talent” but not a single judge is American? Hey guys got a great idea for a show, we will get 3 none Americans to judge the most talented American. And when then don’t see eye to eye with the American public…We can just boo them.

I agree with all of you. Plus, since last week, I have hated agt. I loved it since season 1, but this is stupid. I mean, this stupid judges choice totally killed one of my faves chances at winning last week. Piers is a obnoxious brit who I want off the show, Sharon is to “Oh darling” and cant give that great critism when needed, and Howie, well Howie is hilarious and he and Nick are the only reasons I watch. This show has ruined my summer tv experience, along with Cameron quitting glee project, and I swear next season I will tune off if Piers is not fired.

I agree with all of you too. It bothers me that none of the judges are American and two aren’t even North American. Piers is the most annoying prat (to use a British word) I’ve ever seen and I was hoping that when he took over Larry King’s show that he wouldn’t be back. I hate when he buzzes people, especially kids and people doing dangerous stunts. He’s such an ass.

I totally agreed when I saw the episode the other night that Piers should have used discretion and NOT buzzed during performances. He says it himself ‘at this level…’ well at this level let them perform and NOT buzz a simple error which could have potentially cause an even greater error and death etc. Rules have to change for that. Like right after the performance then use the buzzer. Maybe you can be the first to comment because you buzzed. But not during. It ruins the show.

oh and Howie rocks. I love that he plays pranks on Piers and is totally the opposite and he can also criticize when needed and he’s not scared to go up against Mr. Morgan. He is the best judge on the panel. And I like Nick Cannon as the MC. He does a good job and gets involved.

Amen. Change the rules and maybe ill keep watching. Maybe not since f*****g Smage Bros and their stupid bikes have beat snap boogie. I hate the judges choice and when its gone i will be happy

After the first round and they’ve already approved the acts, the subsequent times they see them, the buzzers should be taken away. Piers has made little kids cry with that buzzer and endangered people doing stunts.
