Amy Poehler picked up her ”fake award” from Harvard University yesterday. The Parks and Recreation star was honored with the 2015 Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year accolade from the elite university’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals group and after a parade through Harvard Square – for which she was accompanied by her father William – the 43-year-old actress was the subject of a celebratory roast, during which she gave as good as she got.
The Boston College graduate joked: ”When I was growing up in Burlington, Harvard University was a place we threw rocks at on our way to our real jobs. When I drove by and gave you the middle finger, I had no idea I’d be honored by you [one day].” Accepting her pudding pot, she added: ”I hope I treat this award with the respect any fake award deserves.”
The Hasty Pudding members poked fun at Amy for everything from her Golden Globes hosting to the fact she has been nominated for 15 Emmy Awards without winning. They joked: ”Our Woman of the Year believes if she collects enough Emmy nominations, she’ll actually win one.” Amy’s Parks and Recreation co-star Chris Pratt will receive the male honor next week, but the actress joked she wished they had staged a joint ceremony. She said: ”If only we could be here together. We could arm wrestle and solve the world’s problems.”
