Amy Schumer told she would hurt people’s eyes if she was over 140 pounds

Amy SchumerAmy Schumer appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show this week, where she admitted that she was told by producers to lose weight for her starring role in Trainwreck.

“The only change was that it was explained to me before I did that movie [Trainwreck] that if you weigh over 140 pounds as a woman in Hollywood, if you’re on the screen it will hurt people’s eyes,” the actress revealed.

She also admitted that she succumbed to Hollywood’s pressure to be skinny, and lost a few pounds before filming the movie.

“I didn’t know that so I lost some weight to do that, but never again,” she said.

Amy had also previously mentioned her strict diet for Trainwreck when she appeared on the talk show Live With Kelly And Michael, and that the producers had sneakily tried to convince her that it was her idea to diet.

“They want it to be your idea, [but] they were like, ‘How do you want to look for the movie?,'” Amy explained. “And I was like, oh scarves and blazers and they were like, ‘No, maybe skip a meal.'” Ouch. ~ Natalia Makarski

Imagine being a teenage girl at the height of her insecurity and hearing something like this. Like, “No, you’re not good enough the way you are!” Things need to change, and change FAST.

Curves are sexy. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Something to hold onto is wayyyy better than something you just pick your teeth with. I don’t want to shame the women who are super skinny and really have issues like anorexia or just naturally super skinny, but I’m just saying to the other women out there, curves are where it’s at!

Never, ever, tell a woman she has to lose weight!! Her inner self is really going to start screaming at you. There are Hollywood actresses out there who are bigger and they still get roles. As a woman, I don’t care what your weight. Can you act is what I want to know.
p.s. And I have seen some actors that could stand to lose a few pounds, but they still get the parts.

She does need to lay off the donuts.

She usually looks okay, but the choices here are not to her advantage. There are certain appearance choices only skinny people can pull off, like pulling your hair back so tight that it looks like you don’t have hair, and wearing tight dresses without sleeves. I think she looks heavier here than she actually is. 140 pounds at 5’5″ isn’t that heavy, it’s a healthy weight within her BMI.
