Angelina Jolie has developed diabetes

By Alexandra Heilbron on April 1, 2008 | 16 Comments

Angelina JolieAngelina Jolie, 32, who’s pregnant for the second time, has reportedly developed diabetes, according to Star magazine. A source told the publication: “Angie has gestational diabetes. She found out about a month ago and has been trying to keep it under wraps. She’s sick and irritable and feels heavy and weak. She’s been seeing a nutritionist about it.” The magazine also states that Jolie is suffering from painful swelling in her legs and feet and can’t fit into her shoes — she’s had to invest in a larger size. Gestational diabetes is usually reversible but pregnant women run the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes following birth.

That really sucks, Diabetes is not fun. I hope everything turns out ok.

  2. tributegirl • April 1, 2008 @ 10:58 AM

It is quite common, I hope they can keep it under control.

I agree, Angelfire. Women sacrifice their health and well being everyday for their children and husbands. That is why it really pisses me off when I hear men (mostly) say that when a marriage dissolves, the courts are unfair and that women should get nothing if they did not work outside the home. I will admit, that some women do use their children as leveridge but, the majority of mothers are just doing everything they can to protect their children. Angelina could very easily walk into an abortion clinic and have the diabetes, pain and swelling problems fixed and back to normal within days…..but we women sacrifice!!

I also agree with Angelfire. I hope that AJ will be alright.

If the skeleton in the picture gives any indication of how well she’s taken care of herself, then get that nutritionist to her pronto. Getting back to a size one as soon as you’ve delivered is an unrealistic goal. For the sake of the kids and Jolie herself she has to eat and eat properly, exercise and take any necessary meds the doc gives her.

Diabetes is not something you mess around with. Friends who are nurses have seen the damage it does to kidneys (dialysis and waiting lists), eyesight and the loss of extremities. Ignoring proper treatment is the proverbial “snowball”.

Ignoring proper treatment is the proverbial “snowball”………..to ANY disease! And I didn’t even need a nurse to tell me that one!! I’d really like to know where you heard that she does not eat, eat properly, take care of herself, exercise, take any necessary meds and that her goal after giving birth is to return to a size one! Believe it or not…some people are “bean poles”…AND I HATE THEM!!! ha ha. They can eat whatever they want and as much as they want and never gain an ounce!!

It’s always good though to have a little extra meat on your bones for times like this, when you get sick. Bean poles almost always look sick because they are TOO thin.

Golly, she should go to Moe’s and get some liquid nutrition! She would probably be all over Barney like a wet t-shirt.

Obviously Nancy believes in more say than anyone else. How dare you say that Angelina would be better off if she had an abortion! And how dare you say that women sacrifice their health for their kids and husband! Husbands sacrifice too, but you’ll be too close-minded to admit it. I had congestive heart failure caused from a virus in my blood when my daughter was born, and spent my sick time with her first year as a full-time, stay-at-home dad. That meant dealing with everything, while my wife went to work. My daughter is going to be 5 in May, and we are extremely close. I have a defibrillator in my chest now at age 47 and have type-2 diabetes with the swelling legs issue. I don’t have an option of aborting a child to save myself, and I would rather die than lose my child. If you’re so set on aborting something, how about your sexist attitude.

Alrighty then! YOU HAVE ISSUES!! BIG TIME!! Maybe you should RE-READ my comment…..you might find it interesting that I NEVER, NEVER said that Angelina “SHOULD” have an abortion. There is a H U G E difference between “could” and “should”…..but such a closed-minded fool such as yourself probably wouldn’t know that, huh? And for the record, I do not agree with abortion unless the pregnancy was due to rape! But that is just my opinion, and I do not look down on ANYONE who chooses to take that route, thank you! Oh, by the way, I have 2 kids and have raised them by myself. Kudos to you for being there for your daughter, but I never said that men do not sacrifice….I just didn’t mention it. I will admit that there are alot of good “DADS” out there but, you have to admit that there are alot of “DEADBEAT DONORS” out there too, k?

Nancy speaks and the world is supposed to listen. Wake up CyberViking2000.

  12. CyberViking2000 • April 5, 2008 @ 12:55 PM

Oh, and yes, Nancy, you just didn’t mention it (about Dad’s).

And “Anonymous”, get a name (if it’s not already Nancy). 🙂

Hey! Where did this guy come from? This “CyberViking2000” guy? Great that you sacrificed for your daughter, great that you were a full time dad. But I bet the mother was very “hands on” as well, so don’t try to tell us that you were fighting for your life and at the same time were the only one taking care of your child. If that were the case, then you wouldn’t really have much time to be playing around on the computer.
I think what you need to do is OPEN YOUR MIND, and re-read Nancy’s posts. If you do it with a clear and open mind, you will see that Nancy wasn’t painting all men with the same brush. She was simply stating her opinion, just like everyone else here.
Nancy, you are a real “sh*t-magnet”, aren’t you? Every once in a while someone comes along and reads your posts with one eye closed, then they give you undeserved sh*t for it. All people need to do is actually stop and THINK about what you are saying! I agree with almost all of what you say! And when I don’t, I give my own opinion, WITHOUT the disrespect some of these clowns give!

  14. Nancy • April 5, 2008 @ 4:43 PM

I thank you for that, Tributegirl. And you know what? I don’t care what this “CyberViking2000” thinks, but I feel really bad for saying what I said about his defibrillator! I’m sorry. Truly I am, that is not who I am. I don’t hate people and don’t wish harm to them. I don’t like to tell strangers about my medical problems either but when I was pregnant I was told that I quite possibly has cervical cancer. The OB/GYN wanted me to abort my child but I said no, of course. After giving birth and healing, I was to go in to have it taken care of but, on the day of my appointment, at the last minute, my child’s “loving donor” says to me “Take her with you because I’m not babysitting!” Needless to say, he is history and I have raised my kids on my own…through thick and thin ever since! I’m mom and dad. I bring in the bacon, cook it and do the dishes! Many people have a hard life…get over it! At least you CyberViking2000, have a wife who helps out….try looking across the fence….at a life where you do it ALL on your own, the grass isn’t so green over there now, is it?

    Crack open the sainthood jar!

ok first of all, you all need to shut up about what nancy says on here. if she was talking TO YOU im sure she would have mentioned your name? and dont you think that by starting stupid little arguments we are GETTING OFF THE TOPIC that we are really here to discuss? i feel very bad for angelina, she does so much for her family AND the world. she is one of the FEW actresses i have EVER saw give herself soo selflessly. i hope she is ok and i hope her baby(ies?) are as well. she deserves nothing but the best, and i guess thats why SHE ended up with brad pitt?
