Angelina Jolie says her kids eat crickets like Doritos

While the Jolie-Pitt family can boast they’re a culturally diverse bunch, they can also say they are all adventurous when it comes to food.

“My boys love to eat crickets. It’s their favorite thing,” said Angelina Jolie, 36, said in a video shoot for a Louis Vuitton Core Values campaign, which was shot in Cambodia (the country where her son Maddox, 9, was born).

“When I first gave it to them, I wanted them not to be turned off by something that was of their culture. They ate them like Doritos, and they wouldn’t stop,” Jolie says of Maddox and Pax, 7.

But the star says while she initially encouraged her kids to try the local delicacies, she soon had to curb the boys’ cravings for the unusual snacks. “They brought to-go boxes home and I had to actually ban the cricket eating at a certain point because I was afraid they were going to get sick from too many.”

Jolie says she’s also tried the Southeast Asian countries’ delicacies. “They’re good. They’re like a potato chip.”

Crickets aren’t the only insects in the Jolie-Pitt clan diet. Jolie admits to have also eaten cockroaches. “There’s this very pointy bit on their stomach you just can’t eat. You have to kind of pop that off.”

While Jolie and her sons are quite adventurous when it comes to trying new foods, Jolie admits she tried Tarantulas on a stick and spider soup—also native to Cambodia. “It does seem like an odd thing to eat,” Jolie admits. “I don’t know if I can get around the fur, but you’ve got to try everything.”
