Although the famous father and daughter have maintained a rocky relationship over the years, Jolie permanently cut her father out of her life after Voight appeared on TV begging her to get help for her “serious mental problems.”
Now, Voight says that they are beginning to heal their relationship. “We’re in touch, but not regularly. We love each other and that’s the most important thing,” Voight told US Weekly magazine. Apparently Jolie’s partner Brad Pitt, with whom she has six children with, encouraged her to get in touch. Reportedly, a source said: “Angelina made the initial contact. Brad has been supportive – a key factor in her reaching out.”
