Anne Hathaway traveled to Massachusetts to pick up her Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year award. She took part in a street parade, then had to “slay” someone dressed as a dragon and show she could sing before receiving her award from Harvard University men in drag. The prize has been handed out annually since 1951 by Harvard’s undergraduate drama troupe to people whom they believe have made a “lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment.” Past recipients include Scarlett Johansson, Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep. After receiving her award, Hathaway gave her acceptance speech in the form of a poem that read: “Please accept my heartfelt thanks and amazement that you have chosen my few humble offerings as celebrated entertainment. I will stand tall as I stand on this list, of hasty pudding honorees — you get the gist. Let us proceed with this day full of cheer — thank you for making me your Hasty Pudding this year.”
