Anne Hathaway to play Judy Garland onscreen and off

Anne HathawayAcademy Award nominee Anne Hathaway, 26, is set to play legendary actress/singer Judy Garland not only on the big screen but also on Broadway in Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland. Both productions will have the same name and are based on the biography by Gerald Clarke. Hathaway says she’s terrified about the part, telling the New York Daily News, “I think I’m either naive or insane to play her — maybe a little bit of both!” Hathaway attended the Tony Awards this past Sunday, where she bumped into Garland’s daughter, Liza Minnelli, who’d just won a 2009 Tony. “I haven’t had a chance to talk to her about it yet,” says Hathaway, “but I understand that as long as I treat Judy with respect — which of course I will — Liza is very happy about it.”

She was the greatest performer . No one has been her equal…

That quote says it all. Anne can’t live up to the legend that Judy GArland was/is.
