Ant-Man and The Wasp packs a sting at weekend box office

Ant-Man and The Wasp, starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, took the lion’s share of profits at the weekend box office, earning the top spot. Last weekend’s top film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, also had a highly profitable third weekend in theaters.

The highly anticipated action/adventure Ant-Man and The Wasp shrunk its competitors down to size, taking in $75.8 million in its opening weekend. Our users rate the film 4 out of 5 stars.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom dropped to second place, bringing in an extra $28.6 million for a domestic total of $333.4 million in its third weekend in theaters. Our users rated this film well, giving 3.7 stars, with over 50 percent of our users giving the film 5 out of 5 stars.

The record-breaking animated sequel Incredibles 2 dropped one spot to third place this week, bringing in an additional $28.4 million for an astonishing domestic total of $503.8 million. Our users gave it a rating of 4.3 stars.

The frightening thriller The First Purge, starring Marisa Tomei, provided some much-needed scares in fourth spot. In its opening weekend in theaters, the film brought in $17.4 million. Our users gave it a rating of 3.3 stars.

Rounding out the top five was Sicario: Day of the Soldado starring Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin. It brought in another $7.6 million for a domestic total of $35.6 million in its second weekend in theaters. Our users give this film a high 4.2 out of 5 stars. ~Ari Derin
