Ashton Kutcher and his business partner Guy Oseary earned not one but two enormous rounds of applause on Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The first round of applause was for arriving. The second round of applause was for something that shocked Ellen and the audience alike.
Ashton explained he had invested in a payment transfer app called Ripple. He spoke about how Ellen was “an amazing human being” and described her recent humanitarian efforts. Saving the gorillas are one of her passions. After discussing her upcoming trip to Africa, Ashton dropped the bomb.
“You’re always thinking about everyone else,” he told Ellen. “We wanted to show you that people are thinking about you. On behalf of Ripple, we would like to give you $4 million dollars,” he said. The $4 million dollars was for The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund.
Ellen could hardly contain her joy as she pushed the button on Ripple to transfer the funds, saying, “That was the most amazing thing. Thank you, I love you both so much, you know that.”
Ellen encouraged everyone to “be kind to one another,” as she held back tears of joy. ~Ari Derin
