Glam BarbieMove over fashionistas because Barbie is back in a big way and better than ever! For more than five decades, Barbie has been the most beloved doll for girls and women all over the world. Although she turned 50 this year, Barbie shows no signs of slowing down.

This year, Mattel is launching a new collection of dolls called the “Barbie Fashionistas” with each doll having her own individual style such as Cutie, Glam, Sassy, Wild, Artsy and Girly. And, for the first time ever, each doll features 12 points of movement and more than 100 plastic-fantastic poses so you can mold your doll into the greatest fashion poses.

Celebrating these new dolls, and her 50th, Barbie has teamed up with some major names
in fashion including Canadian designer David Dixon, who created a special Spring 2010 collection inspired by Barbie and her main man, Ken. Dixon also had a dedicated fashion show titled “Barbie by David Dixon,” which showed after his own Spring collection to a jam-packed house during Toronto’s LG Fashion Week. “Barbie’s ever-evolving style has secured her status as a fashion icon and keeps her relevant to every generation,” Dixon said.

Choreographer JaQuel Knight even created a new dance called “The Barbie,” which is a series of doll-like moves and dance grooves to go along with a music video for the famous tune “I’m a Barbie Girl.” Three of the new Barbie Fashionista dolls: Sassy, Cutie and Artsy will debut in the video, which also features a cameo by Ken.
