The nominations for the 31st Annual Genie Awards were announced today by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. Leading the pack with 11 nominations is Barney’s Version, including nods for Best Motion Picture and Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Paul Giamatti, who’s already won a Golden Globe for his performance). Following closely behind is Incendies with 10 nominations including Best Motion Picture and Achievement in Direction (Denis Villeneuve). Incendies is also in the running for a Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. This year’s Golden Reel Award goes to Resident Evil: Afterlife. Surpassing $280 million worldwide this past November, the film is now the most successful production in Canadian feature film history. The 31st Annual Genie Awards will be broadcast live from the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on Thursday, March 10, 2011 on CBC.

Chatting with How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World star Jay Baruchel, who voices the character of Hiccup, and director Dean DeBlois about the final film.
Barney’s Version is a fantastic movie.
Barney’s version vs Splice…. hummm…
Splice was nominated? No wonder nobody takes these awards seriously.
It’s great that they have a movie we’ve actually heard of (Barney’s Version) but does anyone actually watch Canadian awards shows?
“Barney ´s Version” is a very good film. 🙂 Congratulations to them. 8)
