Gibb formed the Bee Gees in the late 50s with his brothers, Barry and Maurice. They reached the height of their popularity during the disco era of the 70s with their bestselling soundtrack for the film, Saturday Night Fever, but disbanded in 2003 following Maurice’s death. Gibb has since been struggling with several health issues, including a bowel condition and cancer. At this time, he remains in the intensive care unit, as he’s “exhausted, extremely weak and malnourished,” says his doctor, Andrew Thillainayagam. Still, he says Gibb waking up is a remarkable feat. “It is testament to Robin’s extraordinary courage, iron will and deep reserves of physical strength that he has overcome quite incredible odds to get where he is now.” ~Kyle Sharp
