Beyonce wants to be an icon

Beyoncé KnowlesIn a recent interview with Marie Claire UK, DreamgirlsBeyoncé Knowles admitted she doesn’t care about being a pop star and, instead, wants to be a major icon. “[There’s a time limit on] being a pop star, yes. Being a legend, an icon, absolutely not. And, at this point, that’s what I’m trying to do,” she told the magazine. “I’m over being a pop star.” Knowles traded in her short dresses and high heels for her latest role as the legendary Etta James in the upcoming Cadillac Records. She reportedly gained 20 pounds for the role—a strategy that has proven to impress Hollywood (a la Renée Zellweger’s rise to A-list status after Bridget Jones’s Diary). “I don’t wanna be a hot girl. I wanna be iconic,” Knowles explains. But, you can’t always get what you want, Miss Knowles—and if 14-year-old boys have anything to say about it, you’ll just be that “hot girl” for a while.

Typically Beyoncé Knowles – actually, typical Knowles girls bosting (‘just saw Solange acting like prima-donna just the other)…
Meanwhile, I cannot remember, for the life of me, what the heck those two have done remarkable the last couple of years. But, my Lord, can they talk up a storm!
Ego ain’t a bad thing, but stop talking about being great and be great already…

Ok, seriously, someone needs to tell Beyonce to get out of this illusion of grandeur that she has about herself. she’ll be happier that way.

    legends, icons, they’re born…not made…not ex-pop stars.

    sorry girl.

LOL, who does she think she is. You can’t make yourself an icon. The people choose to make you an icon.

Some people are never happy. She’s rich, she’s famous but that’s not enough. If she were actually a good actress maybe she could become iconic. Stick with the singing, that’s the talent she’s been given.
Never enough ego stroking for some, I liked her until I read this article. Time for her to get her head out of the clouds. Maybe hubby Jay-Z can’t buy her enough fame.

I think Beyonce is an enormously talented individual, more so in the singing field (so far) however she was quite good as an actor in Dreamgirls. Maybe future acting roles will enhance her further career as an actress.

Her choice of singing material is not to my taste personally, but I recognize she is a multi talented lady, and I think, she can and will have even more success without any assistance from the Jay-Z name. She’s definitely good enough to go the full mile on her name alone.

Are you serious!!!! Beyonce doesnt have to work to be an icon, she already is one at age 28. Beyonce was born a star and shes gonna die one. I think her accomplishments speak for themselves. she has completed the b day album which has sold more than any other female aritst in history [black, or white] while coming out with an oscar winning movie dream girls AND on top of that she just wrapped another movie about the life of etta james, and she finished her 3rd solo studio album both set to releas in late 08 early 09.
Wants to be an icon??? B if your not an icon i dont know who is. Your biggest fan khalil ([email protected])
