Beyonce sued after two fans trampled at concert

By Tribute on April 3, 2014 | 9 Comments

What was supposed to be a memorable experience for two “long time Beyoncé fans” quickly turned into a nightmare. According to Chicago’s CBS Local, Raquelle Castellanos and Gabriella Davidson, who had standing room tickets, said they went to the concert venue early to beat the crowds. Unfortunately when the gates opened at 7 p.m., the large crowd of waiting fans began rushing inside, trampling the two women. They were both knocked unconscious and sustained broken bones and other undisclosed injuries. Luckily two other female concertgoers came to their aid and called the police to come help. The two victims were then taken to hospital by members of the Chicago Fire Department.

The two women have filed a lawsuit against Beyoncé, the concert promoters Live Nation Entertainment and the United Center. According to the statement: “As the hours passed, the group became larger, more dense and more anxious about how, when and where the gate(s) would be released and where ticket holders and fans were supposed to enter The United Center – none of which was explained.” The women are seeking an undisclosed amount in damages. ~Tarah Bleier

Beyonce is not the one to blame. That could have happened at concerts like Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Green Day, Iron Maiden, Foo Fighters and I wouldn’t blame on those artists. Security officials at the venue are to blame. I mean, shouldn’t they have tell the fans to NOT RUN or RUSH IN???

Security shouldn’t have to tell people not to trample and severely injured others.

United Center has insurance coverage to cover situations like this. They wouldn’t have Beyonce or any other famous artist play at there center without insurance coverage for any injuries. Beyonce won’t pay anything.

I have to agree with Dorothy. No big shows play without insurance, they’d be nuts to. Stuff like this happens all the time. Really has nothing to do with the artist.

Ya that makes sense. Sue Beyonce. She is the one who trampled them and everything. These aren’t fans of hers. If they were true fans they would realize she had nothing to do with it. They just want money.

What a bunch of horseshit. She had nothing to do with them being injured. They willingly walked into a crowd of excited people.
Smells just like that lady who wanted to sue for hearing damage caused by attending a Justin Beiber concert. Lazy, selfish, entitled people who can’t take the blame for their own mistakes.

The only one’s to blame are the concert promoters. They should have had better & safer procedures & installation of allowing people in. Beyoncé has no control over this. I guess these girls are suing Beyoncé in order to get the publicity out of their lawsuit.

This is so sad to hear – every venue has it’s challenges and there should have been an organized and safe entry point for all fans….This should never happen to any concert goer….Everyone is always excited waiting to get into the venue but nobody should get trampled and physically injured….I’m not certain about who is responsible to be sued for this horrible incident but I hope that both girls who just wanted to see their favorite artist get better soon….

This is how in summary, multi million $$ lawsuit works in the USA in terms of liability. You get injured on a property, there is liability as per state rules, first the owner (landlord), then the owner of the lease, the vendors (all involved with the concert ie the performer, security, promoters etc.) If there were police presence, then the city. Everyone has liability insurance and the lawyers increases victim payout by suing everyone they can think of. Only the court will decide % of responsibility of each insurance co. from 0% to 100%, typically shared responsibilities. Each individual being sued will not lose a penny, that’s the purpose of paying high premiums for liability insurance. This is a simple case of lawyer’s tactic to draw more public attention surrounding the case for jury sympathy which means higher payouts/awards……so sad as it is all about $$$ and the lawyers takes 1/3 of whatever payout! This is a prime example of how capitalism works here in the good o’l USA…
