Thornton calls web viewers “humpbacked geeks”

Billy Bob ThorntonBilly Bob Thornton was all smiles during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel this week, unlike his earlier appearance on CBC radio. Ironically, Kimmel asked the same questions of Thornton that CBC interviewer Jian Ghomeshi did, but this time the actor answered graciously, instead of staring at Kimmel blankly and answering in monosyllables, as he did on CBC. Kimmel was brave enough to ask Thornton about his meltdown, to which the actor replied, “The fact that that was news was astounding to me. It gave humpbacked geeks all over the world something to do for a couple of days.” He also called Ghomeshi a liar, saying he’d promised not to talk about Thornton’s acting career. Anyone who’s seen the interview knows that Ghomeshi kept his word, but Thornton became petulant and withdrawn from the moment Ghomeshi made the apparently unforgivable error of introducing him as an Oscar-winning actor. Thornton, who said Canadian audiences were like “mashed potatoes with no gravy,” cancelled the Canadian dates of his band’s tour after he was loudly booed during their first appearance following the CBC interview.  ~movi_alex

Who cares what Billy Bob Redneck thinks anyway?

  3. Linda • April 24, 2009 @ 1:27 PM

BillyBob, ACTOR/musician? and his band went home with tail between legs!

Somehow, our Canadian mashed potatoe audiences, succeeded in boooing BBT’s band…right out of the country. lol

Little man, big mouth, guess he shouldn’t have been a rude looser.

Thornton calls web viewers humpbacked geeks. That sounds like everyone else.

Does he have a fan, anywhere? Oh. Not now!

I used to think he was kind of funny, in a stupid moronic kind of way, now I think he is just….well, nothing. I guess, that’s the only word I can think of to describe him!

Who gives a crap about Billy Bob? To paraphrase what the Americans like to say, Canada: love it or leave it. Good riddance!

  6. Edward Norton • April 24, 2009 @ 5:52 PM

Billy Bob … This is YOUR brain on drugs.

  7. Nancy • April 24, 2009 @ 6:24 PM

Well, in this photo, Billy Bob looks like a “humpbacked geek”!!

When one thinks of the words rude, unmannered, uncivilized and empty-headed this person’s image should right away come to mind. He should take some classes in how to behave when in public and in interviews and then perhaps he’ll get along in Canada…that if he can actually understand what manners are…

I feel sorry for his bandmates. They are being lumped in with this idiot. They should oust Billy Bob and get someone else.Hey I’ll even do it, I’d be much better than him.

  10. Gail • April 24, 2009 @ 8:21 PM

Well anouther loser bites the dust…
so why do people keep giving him air time?
Jimmy Kimmel should take note that if he and others give idiots air time they look like losers too!

  11. demigod • April 24, 2009 @ 8:28 PM

He should stick to a script.
Apparently Canada DOES come with gravy..and a backbone, as we showed him.

  12. Carol • April 24, 2009 @ 8:29 PM

So, why is this guy famous anyway? I mean, he did some movies, but he is old, ugly, and extremely unprofessional. I think it is time he got the heave-ho!

  13. Dani • April 25, 2009 @ 12:55 AM

Um. I used to like and respect Billy Bob. But he’s kind of a douche-bag. Making that kind of blatantly rude statement about an entire country of people is extremely unprofessionally, and the fact that he was booed off stage shows that maybe he should respect his fan base, as they can turn on you as fast as they can praise you. Which shows why this one-time oscar winner is now doing direct-to-DVD slog and doesn’t want to talk about acting in the first place during interviews. Maybe he should just crawl back into the southern hole he came out of, and stay there!

  14. Bill • April 25, 2009 @ 9:08 AM

Billy Bob Thornton is a hypocritic phony! He claims to only want to talk about his band because that’s all there is at that moment that is important. And yet, BBT (who everyone recognizes as an actor, not a musician) is the frontman and spokesman for the interviews. He is trading on his acting fame to promote the band but he gets his panties in a bunch when the interview acknowleges his acting fame. I hope his bandmates appreciate the shortened tour in exchange for his overinflated ego.

  15. Jo-Anne • April 25, 2009 @ 10:53 AM

    I agree, Bill, well said….

but Carol, you ask why is this guy famous???

Not to take that away from him…he was amazing in Slingblade/Monster’s Ball and has had a pretty long acting career. and I EMPHASIZE, this is NO WAY colours my personal judgement of his hypocritical and ignorance shown here, but to be fair he has acomplished some solid acting roles. and being “old, ugly” – how in any way should that add or minus or AFFECT his behaviour (or anyone else’s for that matter) we’re addressing here?

    Trailer Trash Inbred Hick

  17. demigod • April 25, 2009 @ 3:22 PM

    Anybody seen ‘Badder Santa’? HILARIOUS.

  18. Nancy • April 25, 2009 @ 4:22 PM

Totally agree with you on ‘Badder Santa’, demigod! It was totally hilarious.

  19. Devil_lil_thing • April 25, 2009 @ 8:33 PM

I think he should be mentally evaluated, his perception of reality still seems skewed…

Glad he was boooed out of the country, Ihough no idea it had a band, I just thought he was the ex play thing of Angelina Jolie… omg he acted too? wth… was it a country flick?…But it seems his acting career has been a joke, much like himself. Hicks, they seem to be reproducing all to quickly in the world…

  20. Simmy • April 25, 2009 @ 8:39 PM

OMG…I think this is one of the funniest things I have ever heard, he actually thought he stood a chance of being accept after insulting an entire nation? Man what are you on? Maybe he’s just a racist…seems that way.

  21. Silena • April 25, 2009 @ 8:45 PM

I agree with the person that feels sorry for his bandmates, they are going to go down in history as being forced to endure the bad PR of a moronic hick and his incoherant ravings.
Ditch the hick and get a real musician, if your good you can make it without the baggage. Or for his understanding road kill.

  22. Cat • April 28, 2009 @ 2:20 AM

Billy Bob has manage to open his mouth again and insult yet another group of people. This time he insults anyone who uses the internet as a media of information. That’s quite a number of possible people who might see movies or listen to music. Oh, would that not be the majority of his desired target market for both his said ‘acting career’ or his ‘wanna be music career’. Hmmmm not very smart. Good luck to his poor band members.

  23. Melody • April 28, 2009 @ 3:06 AM

    WOW.
You insult a country, you insult a growing demographic – & you think you’ll keep the few fans you have left?!?! Who’s he going to bash next?

Celebrities forget they are representatives of their country when away from home, and that their words and actions are in the spotlight. I’m glad he’s not the only American celebrity I’ve heard of, otherwise I would think they ALL are rude, narrow-minded, ignorant & immature.

From the sounds of it, I think this guys’ idea of technology is a commodore 64! LMAO

  24. Carol • April 28, 2009 @ 7:52 PM

Hey Jo-Ann, I get what you are saying. He is old and ugly and I say that because I’m bitter towards his actions. At the end of the day, if someone is good at what they do, it doesn’t matter how old they are or what they look like. I’m just being catty because I think he is a jackass.

  25. Nancy • April 28, 2009 @ 8:07 PM

I agree, Carol. He put us Canadians down and he truly is “old and ugly”, LOL. As for you “being catty” because you think he is a jackass….fits right in here. I can be pretty catty with those who I feel are jackasses, too. 😛

    Meow….hissssss….SCRATCH!!

  26. don • April 29, 2009 @ 1:09 AM

  27. tributegirl • April 29, 2009 @ 3:46 PM
