Biographer reveals Oprah was a prostitute

oprah_winfreyKitty Kelley,  an investigative reporter who has written several best-selling celebrity biographies, has just released a biography on Oprah Winfrey. In it, she says the talk show host’s family doesn’t believe Oprah’s claim that she was sexually molested starting when she was nine-years-old by her cousin, her uncle, and a family friend. Kelley writes: “I believe Oprah. Now, her family doesn’t believe her, but that’s part of her life story. That she wasn’t believed, that there was nobody she could confide in. I happen to believe she was and that comes through in the book.” Kelley also alleges that Oprah was at one time a prostitute: “We’re talking about her secrets and at one point in her life, she was ready to get rid of some of those secrets when she was writing her autobiography… And she was also going to reveal that she was, in her words, a prostitute. I felt that was really a very harsh description that she would give herself. She was literally saying that she was a prostitute. You know, she had talked about her sex abuse and her promiscuity in the past, but she had never used the word prostitute.”

this is terrible. i never knew that about oprah, and i feel bad for her if she went through the things she claims. thats the problem with people that claim they have been through any type of abuse, unless there is physical evidence laid in front of you you really have no idea what to believe. i would never in my life time believe anyone over my own child, or even just my niece, if i was told they were being sexually abused. i know it happens, but its unbelievable and disgusting that any mother or father would ignore their childs cry for help.

mandee, unfortunately it happens all the time, even today. I can’t imagine not believing my child if they said something like that. However, this person saying Oprah was a prostitute, etc, I don’t like that, I think if it is something that is in Oprah’s past and she wants the public to know, she can tell them herself, not some person looking to make money off someone else’s possibly true/untrue story.

i agree with you, tg. on this topic, i actually watched on montel once this woman whos husband was sexually abusing her 2 sons, she left him but for some reason decided to start dating him again? and then when her kids were older she decided to REMARRY the monster that abused her children and she wanted them to be at the wedding. i cant stand that women pick the abusers over their own flesh and blood, i would stay single for life if it meant the happiness and healthiness of my children.

Agreed, I don’t understand people like that, for me the mother/child bond is stronger than any other, and my children are getting pretty big, one is almost an adult, and I’d still always choose her over someone that would hurt her. For the rest of my life, I would choose my children over any other person.
