Sacha Baron Cohen retires Borat

Sacha Baron Cohen has retired his comedic character Borat. He brought the Kazakhstani journalist character to fame in the hit 2006 movie Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan. The controversial film made fun of unsuspecting members of the public. Cohen has decided not to play Borat again because the character is so well-known that he won’t be able to fool anyone anymore. He says, “When I was being Ali G and Borat, I was in character sometimes 14 hours a day, and I came to love them, so admitting I am never going to play them again is quite a sad thing. It is like saying goodbye to a loved one. It is hard, and the problem with success, although it’s fantastic, is that every new person who sees the Borat movie is one less person I ‘get’ with Borat again, so it’s a kind of self-defeating form, really.”
I’m glad; I can’t stand him.

I am sorry Sacha is retiring the Borat character. Borat held up a mirror to us and showed us how incredibly stupid so many really are. Of course this wasn’t ever about Kazakhstan. But you know that…
