Boy George attacked outside of nightclub

It turns out someone does really want to hurt Boy George. The singer/songwriter was reportedly assaulted outside a nightclub in northeast England where he was DJing, leaving him with a nasty black eye. According to his spokesperson, the singer was leaving the establishment when a drunk, aggressive woman tried to steal his hat, and in the middle of it all, George got hit in the eye. But it didn’t stop the ’80s pop star from carrying on with style — he sported a chic pair of glasses with the Union Jack over one lens to cover up the injury. He later posted a picture of his shiner on Twitter (although it was eventually deleted) with the caption, “Looking pretty after being assaulted on Saturday night! Nice!” George will not be pressing any charges.

Haha a drunk woman tried to take his hate. Is “attacked” really the word we’re going to use to describe this?!

Wow, that’s amazing. Boy George is still making the news after 30ish years

Ouch! That black eye says that he was attacked, Lloyd. I’m impressed that he’s not pressing charges. He knows better than anyone that sometimes (drunk) people make mistakes. Glad to hear he’s still around and DJ’ing.

A black eye doesn’t indicate an attack. If my friend drunkenly dances and swings his arm and hits me in the eye and I have resulting bruising, that doesn’t mean I was attacked. The woman should definitely be charged for drunk and disorderly conduct, but assault or “attack” should not be used. Even a charge of attempted theft should be brought up before assault.

Anyone else think he kind of looks like a bastard child of Jeremy Renner and Ellen Degeneres in that photo?

I see what you’re saying Lloyd. Good point.
