Brad and Angelina design jewelry for charity

By Alexandra Heilbron on March 25, 2010 | 15 Comments

snake_jewelleryBrad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have designed a collection of jewelry for Asprey, a high-end British jewelry company, to benefit a children’s charity. The collection, called “The Protector,” includes diamond-studded pendants and rings, baby spoons and picture frames, all featuring serpents. Jolie chose the theme after she was given a snake ring while pregnant with Shiloh. Proceeds from the jewelry, which is being sold at Asprey stores in London, New York, Los Angeles, Toyko, Japan and Dubai, will go to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict. In a statement about the charity, Jolie said, “These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal.” ~Alexandra Heilbronsnake_spoon

Wonder where they got the “snake” theme from. Almost positive I’ve seen the snake ring before. But nice.

Very Unique pieces, definitely designed for those who can afford to purchase from the collection and benefit the foundation. Kudos to Brad and Angelina

How does snake, children, and protection go together? I see snake and I think back to the days when the snake tricked Eve in to eating fruit from a forbidden tree. Sneeky, coniving, dishonest. Protector does not come to mind.

Snakes are,and always have been a big seller in jewelry!I have a double headed snake bracelet thats at least 60 plus years old, handed down from my mom! Angelina and Brad definitely know what is going to sell,to make big bucks for charity.

If that top snake one is a ring, I like it but not if it’s a bracelet. I absolutely HATE snakes! Very much doubt I would buy anything in the “snake collection”. Can’t figure out how they think that spoons and picture frames are jewelry though.

Personally I think that more affordable pieces should be designed for charity. Those that can afford these pieces can afford to just donate the money without recieving anything. The masses are the real money contributors even if it is one dollar at a time. Brad and Ang just want Kudos for themselves “Just look at how great we are.” Truely charitable people can remain anonymous and like the masses usually are.
