Brad Pitt doesn’t feel safe without a gun

Brad Pitt Brad Pitt "doesn't feel safe" without a gun. The Killing Them Softly actor is protective of his fiancée Angelina Jolie, and their children - Maddox, 11, Pax, nine, Zahara, seven, Shiloh, six, and four-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne - and feels owning a weapon is "in his DNA" as an American. He told the Daily Mail's Live magazine: "America is a country founded on guns. It's in our DNA. It's very strange but I feel better having a gun. I really do. I don't feel safe, I don't feel the house is completely safe, if I don't have one hidden somewhere. That's my thinking, right or wrong." Brad, 49, points out how he was exposed to guns from an early age but still turned out to be a responsible adult. He added: "I got my first BB gun when I was in nursery school. I got my first shotgun by first grade [six years old], I had shot a handgun by third grade [eight] and I grew up in a pretty sane environment."

Brad just revealed what is wrong with America….

ya he sure did. and the message is that carzy people should not have guns. yet again someone who actually has a brain and uses unlike others who write dumb comments(CRTG) “guns don’t kill people,PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE” so lay off responsible gun owners like MR Pitt its not his fault that the U.S is full of crazy a$$holes

US is crazier compared to Canada but who knows exactly why might be bc its a bigger country. But US has the mentality they tougher n better than alot countries. It’s just the way they are, how they make fun of Canadians etc. while you don’t hear Canadians much making fun of US. It’s just a long culture that can’t be changed.

America wasn’t even discovered by the europeans 500 years ago.. Not a long culture at all. Very twisted mindset when it comes to firearms.

I think the logic is flawed – “I don’t feel safe unless there is a gun hidden somewhere in the house”.

Having a gun in my house (hidden or not hidden) wouldn’t make me feel any more safe. I would feel much MORE at ease and SAFE knowing that OUTSIDE my home that nobody has a gun!

    It’s not a U.S. vs. Canada thing etc… It’s a “logical deduction”.
Harder to kill people with a bullet if there is no trigger to pull.

My comment is not dumb, just an opinion. In America, many states have no background or criminal checks. There are loop-holes in gun shows where un-savory people obtain firearms with ridiculous magazine capacities. Why does Brad Pitt require a gun in the house? I have just returned from L.A. where celebrity homes have excellent security. Can you stop every demented person out there? Absolutely not, but an untrained person, lawful ownership or not, with a firearm is just as dangerous.

Bean. I agree with CTRG. More guns out there to solve the issue? I think not. More firepower just escalates the violence. Today 2 firefighters were murdered responding to a fire set by a deranged individual….do we arm everybody now? Prevention has to be a consideration, not just the armed response.

For the avg. Joe, I think we can call this attitude crazy. But Brad Pitt might actually be one of the ppl who can actually justify this comment. Let’s face, he’s about as famous as a person can get, he’s married to someone else who’s equally famous (and somewhat controversial to boot), and they have approx. 31 kids. Yeah, I can see why he might want a gun.

wade Angelina and Brad aren’t married. They must have security guards in the places where they live so they don’t need a gun.

I’ve exhausted myself this past week arguing firearm laws – or lack of – in the US (after the Newtown shooting). I thought I was going crazy; it’s refreshing to see so many people here share my sentiment’s. Just makes me that much prouder to be a Canuck.

Well I grew up in Canada and go to us alot and want to live there. And I definitely would live with a gun in us more than I would in Canada lol although I prefer to live in us now.

Nothing wrong with having a gun if you are a responsible person.

    Well said, Vayne!

    Heston would be proud.

The notion of gun control laws preventing gun induced violence has statistically been shown to be false. It’s just an ideal. “Control the guns, control the violence” just isn’t correct. What these laws do is make it more difficult for the average joe, looking to protect his family, to get a firearm. You think banning guns would magically prevent criminals from getting their hands on them?

What would work, is parents spending time with their kids. Love them, be a bigger part of their lives than these negative outside influences. If they have mental illnesses that could lead to some sort of violent behaviour, try to recognize it and get them specialized help. I believe kids who grow up to do this have been through circumstances throughout their lives that lead them to the mindset of being capable of these acts.
