Questions have been raised since Jamie Lynn Spears, the 16-year-old sister of Britney, announced she’s pregnant with her 19-year-old boyfriend, Casey Aldridge. Because of the difference in their ages, Aldridge could be guilty of statutory rape. The two have been dating since Spears was 13 years old. If conception took place in their home state of Louisiana, then the act could be classified a “Felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile,” defined as “sexual intercourse with consent between someone age 19 or older and someone between age 12 and 17.” If found guilty, Aldridge could face 10 years. If the act took place in California, where Spears lives while filming her Nickelodeon series Zoey 101, the law states: “Any person who engages in an act of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor (under 18) who is not more than three years older or three years younger than the perpetrator, is guilty of a misdemeanor and faces up to one year in a county jail.”
