Reports are now surfacing that the late Brittany Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjack, who recently passed away, allegedly drained the actresses’ finances nearly dry. Murphy’s former business manager Jeffrey Morgenroth told People that Monjack drained his deceased wife’s cash reserves by 80 percent before his own death from anemia and pneumonia in May.
As a result of these loss in finances, Murphy’s mom Sharon, 57, is facing financial uncertainty, says Morgenroth. “There were huge amounts of money in [Brittany’s] pension plan and bank account, and all of that’s gone,” says Morgenroth. “I would see it on the statements. There was money being withdrawn by Simon, hundreds of thousands.”
It is also said that Monjack’s mother, Linda Monjack, reportedly ordered Murphy’s mother Sharon to leave the couple’s Hollywood home. Jeannette Bycott, an assistant to Morgenroth said: “Linda started acting like everything belongs to her,” says Bycott. “Before Sharon could say anything, Linda stated the house was now hers.”
However, Linda Monjack, denies any wrongdoing by either her or Simon. “If there is money missing I have no idea where it is. He didn’t get much, maybe a few hundred dollars, and he paid off his debts with it. He was spending his time crying his eyes out most of the time. He was in a terrible state.”
What a jerk….
Britney left everything to her mother her money, the house nothing of hers was left to Simon. And after someone dies there estate is in probate no one can touch it without the court authority so either the mother or her business manager Jeffrey took it and putting the blame on someone who has pasted away.If it does turn out it was Simon more than likely Jeffrey was in on it and received some of the money to be quiet. The business manager would have knowledge of what was going on with her money at all time. Saying 7 months later the money’s gone doesn’t make sense
Human nature at it’s best. Those that are condemned find ways at justifying themselves. If her mom is finanically strapped, that isn’t Brittany’s nor is it anybody else’s fault. In fact, I personally believe that’s a horrible way to make money: Count on your kids giving it to you. However, as was mentioned, if Brittany’s money was Willed to her mother, then why did it take so long for her to get it? I’d be focussing my attention more on the person who was supposed to be responsible for making sure the money was safe, and only accessible by her mother.
There’s two sides to every story
J.B. on July 29, 2010 9:19 PM youre a smart person. i agree with you.
if he DID spend 80% of brittanys money, he was clearly only in the relationship for her money and status. im still upset that she died at such a young age. rest in peace.
There are three sides to every story. mine, yours and the truth. nobody will admit to taking all of her money and unless there is documented proof that points the finger at one person, consider the money gone and move on.
Human nature at its worst not best. And who cares where the monies gone, that’s their life, what do they want… a bailout or something?
‘death from anemia and pneumonia’..sounds familiar. They both ODed. Not that this explains the lost money 🙂
I also agree with J.B.
But it is still shocking to me that Brittany is dead, I remember when she got super famous from the movie 8 mile.
But if her husband did do this then he was probly only with her for money and not love. And, the Monjacks seem like very unpleasant people from what ive heard so far.
It would be nice if everyone let them rest in peace.
