Broadcast Film Critics Association nominees

The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) has announced the nominees for the 14th annual Critics’ Choice Awards. The winners will be revealed at the Critics’ Choice Awards gala on January 8, 2009 and broadcast on VH1. These awards are a precursor to the Academy Awards and often mirror those nominations. Milk and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button lead the pack with eight nominations each. Milk’s nominations include Best Picture, Best Actor nod for Sean Penn, two Best Supporting Actor nominations for James Franco and Josh Brolin and Best Director for Gus Van Sant. The eight nominations for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button include Best Picture, Best Actor (Brad Pitt), and Best Actress (Cate Blanchett). The Dark Knight received six nominations, including Best Picture but oddly, Heath Ledger was not nominated for his portrayal of the Joker. Changeling received nominations for Best Picture and Best Actress (Angelina Jolie).
