Annie Proulx, who wrote the book null, which later was made into a movie starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, says that since the movie was released she’s been pestered by homosexuals who send her “pornish” scripts. About a love affair between two gay cowboys, the movie has inspired many to write their own versions. “There are countless people out there who think the story is open range to explore their fantasies and to correct what they see as an unbearably disappointing story,” Proulx told the Wall Street Journal. “They constantly send ghastly manuscripts and pornish rewrites of the story to me, expecting me to reply with praise and applause for ‘fixing’ the story. They certainly don’t get the message that if you can’t fix it, you’ve got to stand it.” She added that the film is a “source of constant irritation in my private life.”
Ah, welcome to the wolderful world of fanfics.
Hmmmm….trying to fix things that don’t need fixing….sounds vaguely familiar…
Hah hah. Ah, well, if she’s going to write such a story, she must be prepared for the fanfics~…
this is so yesterday, it’s OVER, people
If you liked it, fine – if not, move on
as if sending rewrites is ever going to materialize into a new version with this writer….the movie was successful, no doubt she’s more than happy with the outcome
