The new thriller Jumper, starring Canadian-born Hayden Christensen, debuted in the top spot at the weekend box office, raking in $27.2 million in ticket sales (all figures US). Two other new releases opened in second and third place: Step Up 2 the Streets earned $19.7 million and the children’s fantasy The Spiderwick Chronicles took in $19.1 million. The romantic comedy Fool’s Gold, last week’s No. 1 film, dropped to fourth, grossing an additional $13.1 million, while another new release, Definitely, Maybe, starring Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds and child star Abigail Breslin, rounded out the top five with $9.7 million.
Ugg!
Big disappointment… & ten bucks to boot!
Wish I could have jumped over this one
Awsome! Go Canada.
Anonymous,
Never talk about the family business in public again. lol
its better than leaping off a tall building. that was a character created by another canadian!
Nice to see a Canadian on top of the box-office heap, and STEP UP 2 (shot in Toronto) is the best sequel to come down the pike in years.
This will have minimum to no beneficial impact to Canada whatsoever. It is simply naive to think so…..
