Canadian Music Week 2014 SiriusXM Indie Awards

By Tribute on May 11, 2014 | 8 Comments

SiriusXM hosted an amazing show to close out Canadian Music Week 2014 last Saturday night in Toronto. The 14th Annual Independent Music Awards is dedicated to the best performers in Canadian and international indie music. It’s pretty much the Grammys of the indie scene. The SiriusXM Indie Awards were hosted at Kool Haus by SiriusXM on-air personality Jeff Leake, and Tribute was there to cover it with exclusive photographs. In addition to the presentations, there were featured special performances from artists such as Hollerado, Mounties, Born Ruffians, Ponctuation, The Strumbellas and The Hidden Cameras. Sweden’s internationally acclaimed electro-pop band Little Dragon also graced the SiriusXM Indies stage for an exclusive set.

Little Dragon chose to create a familiar environment for their Toronto fans, opening with Please Turn and My Step. The band’s lead singer Yukimi Nagango was bouncing around on stage, shaking her tambourine. Colorful digital waves and patterns on the backdrop, together with Nagango’s emotion-soaked vocals, entranced the audience. Honoring the year’s best in independent music, SiriusXM indie show awarded artists in over 35 categories, including: Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Artist of the Year and SiriusXM Emerging Artist of the Year in both English and French categories.
