It’s official. Captain America will be getting a new sidekick in the sequel. Anthony Mackie, known for his roles in The Hurt Locker and The Adjustment Bureau, will play sidekick Falcon in the film alongside lead actor Chris Evans. Falcon is one of the first black superheroes, whose abilities include flight and telepathic links which give him power over all birds. With Mackie’s previous films, including Million Dollar Baby, Half Nelson and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, he has caught the attention of audiences as an upcoming actor. The confirmation of Mackie’s role in the Captain America sequel follows the announcement of the sequel’s title, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which was revealed at Comic-Con last Saturday.
