Celebrities angered by Chris Brown Grammy appearance

Several celebrities have spoken out about how angry they were to see Chris Brown performing not once, but twice at last Sunday’s Grammy Awards, only three years after he beat his then-girlfriend Rihanna‘s face to a bloody pulp. Most vocal is country singer Miranda Lambert, who wrote on Twitter, “‘How dang long did they give Nicki Minaj to do whatever that was? Strange. And Chris Brown twice? I don’t get it. He beat on a girl… Not cool that we act like that didn’t happen. He needs to listen to Gunpowder and lead and be put back in his place. Not at the Grammys.” Singer Michelle Branch tweeted: “Trying not to go off on a rant but…Chris Brown…*bites tongue* have we forgiven him? #Grammys.” Modern Family actor Eric Stonestreet quipped: “Are Chris brown’s mom and dad CBS and Grammy Brown?” Boston TV Reporter Julie Loncich tweeted: “BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! #ChrisBrown you suck!” and “#ChrisBrown needs to be banned. Forever.” Several people also derided his performances because he lip synched instead of singing live. For his part, right after winning a Grammy on Sunday night, Brown tweeted the following obscene rant: “HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY. Now! That’s the ultimate F— OFF.” What do you think? Should Chris Brown have been invited to perform at the Grammys?

    Hes a dink

No I don’t think it was appropriate and if I were Rhianna I would have felt disrespected. I wonder who he’s giving favours to in the industry to get such a boost, that the Grammy’s are appearing to have forgiven all, and trying to influence what the American public thinks. I’d also like to know, other than me who think it’s okay to be beating on women, who else is buying his music?

  3. Heather • February 15, 2012 @ 10:52 AM

he is what is wrong with spoiled celebs, especially those immature punks self-identifying as “gangstas” – stay in the “hood”

  4. Andre • February 15, 2012 @ 11:15 AM

No He should not have been invited, he should be erased from the entertainment industry. I am tired of seeing people Rewarded and celebrated for bad behavior. Chris Brown Beats his girlfriend, smashes a TV studio, and is rewarded. Lady Gaga Makes a mockery of everything, belittles people, and is revered as Music Goddess. Lindsay Lohan breaks the law, is on drugs, and she’s more talked about than anyone else. Celebs who use Bad behavior to further their careers should be banned and erased from the industry.

he definitely shouldnt have been on twice, hes just not that popular. wow the music industry has a short memory

  6. Linda • February 15, 2012 @ 11:30 AM

ABSOLUTELY NOT! A gangsta wife beater has NO business being on the Grammy stage… how totally disrespectful to Riannha — and all women who have been beaten by their so called boyfriends and husbands. Is the music industry / Grammy’s in support of this behaviour….. it appears so…..

  7. Alex • February 15, 2012 @ 11:35 AM

He is talented but a spectacular jerk.

  8. Music fan • February 15, 2012 @ 12:07 PM

The Grammys celebrate success in music and people still buy his music…he’s still getting on the charts. Don’t get me wrong, by no means am I condoning what he did but his personal life is kind of a different matter I think. Granted there was no need for him to be on twice.

  9. TC • February 15, 2012 @ 12:51 PM

Ya I think he should have been able to perform. Everyone makes mistakes and deserves a second chance.

  10. Bug • February 15, 2012 @ 12:57 PM

He’s a rapper……..he’s not talented! Whoever writes his shit can’t even be considered talented. It’s crap! He’s a felon, woman beating piece of trash. I would love to stick an ice pick in his eye. Hey Chris, do the world a favor and over dose already. Ass clown.

  11. Tyrone • February 15, 2012 @ 1:13 PM

If the Grammys start banning people cause they broke the law or did something wrong then there really would be no Grammys. Mel Gibson threatens his ex and goes on a racist rant but I see him banned from nothing. I don’t condone what Chris Brown did but if he was white would there be this backlash?

Everyone makes mistakes? Like mistakenly beating the holy crap out of your girlfriend? Yeah, that’s just a “mistake”.

Honestly, I have no idea why we, as a society, forgive a-holes time and time again… although it seems like we’re the ones in an abusive relationship with celebs.

  13. Nameless • February 15, 2012 @ 2:50 PM

Tyrone what does this have anything to do with Chris Brown being black??

  14. jim • February 15, 2012 @ 3:47 PM

He’s not being celebrsted for his bad behavior, he did community service and probation for that; he’s being celebrated for his music. Nobody on here is saying that Whitney Houston shouldn’t have been celebrated even though she has been arrested for her illegal actions. The world isn’t black and white, it’s grey. There’s a rumour as well, that Chris Brown and Rhianna are secretly dating again!

  15. AIssawi • February 15, 2012 @ 4:21 PM

Foolosh comment. Mel Gibson got screwed and his new movies are pretty much going straight to home video. And all he did was get drunk and talk shit. There was photographs seen by millions of the damage that sick freak did to his woman’s face. Not comparable at all.

  16. Willfergus • February 15, 2012 @ 4:38 PM

We don’t care about his behavior outside of a scene….let him do his things. It’s like Charlie Sheen who got kicked out of 2 and a half men for his bad behavior in his personal life….moronic….and the show died after that!!!

So would it be okay for him to beat your mother… just as long as he keeps it, mostly, private? Christ, did people’s intelligence quotients drop this past decade?

  18. Sam • February 15, 2012 @ 7:31 PM

Some of you posters are clueless, Rihanna has been hanging around Chris brown as of late. Maybe you should be more informed before posting messages saying it was disrespectful to Rihanna.

  19. Joan • February 16, 2012 @ 12:24 AM

He’s so full of himself. I hope someone takes him down a notch one day.

  20. c_0638 • February 15, 2012 @ 11:02 PM

Imagine how isolated Rhianna must feel since everyone is acting like nothing happened and are still letting him perform at events she is attending. I know if I was beat I would not want to be in the same room as that person ever again, or see them succeeding. He should be in prison like anyone else who commits those crimes.

  21. anton • February 16, 2012 @ 10:18 AM

I’m not sayiing what he did 3 years ago is not wrong. but don’t you think it’s time he is forgiven for what he did. all the kid wants to do is make good music for the people to enjoy. whould he be taking this much slack if he was white?

  22. Fan • February 16, 2012 @ 11:46 AM

Why is everyone bringing up race? It has nothing do with the fact that he’s black

And if Rihanna can take him back why can’t we? I bet she’s not as innocent as everyone thinks

So if Hitler was a good painter should we forgive him for his previous dabblings with Genocide? If Paul Bernardo was a masterful chef should we forgive him for those rapes and murders? Those are extreme examples I know, but there has to come a time where society puts its foot down on these clowns. I dont recall Chris Brown make any solid effort to reconcile his assault charges. He had plenty of opportunity to use his celebrity status to help women, dontate to womens shelters, or speak publicly to show some light on domestic abuse (encourage women to seek help). He had an opportunity to be a champion for the cause; instead, he chose to be a chump.
    anton on February 16, 2012 10:18 AM

I don’t GAF about his race. I GAF about his character. I would treat this clown with equal hostility if he was white.
Fan on February 16, 2012 11:46 AM Why is everyone

    1) When did she take him back? He’s a POS with deep anger issues. We’ve seen it with his Today show tirade, and most recent twitter comments. This moron has a very short fuse.

    2) Rihanna’s not that innocent? So what are you saying…. that she was asking for it?

  24. Judy • February 16, 2012 @ 3:44 PM

Hi, wonder why the BS over black and white, he is a jerk no matter what color. Whoever wrote that clip should get a life, the sun doesn’t shine on you all the time, a jerk is a jerk.

@ K – Id also like to know, other than me who think its okay to be beating on women, who else is buying his music?

I completely agree with you K! No, it is Not OK to hit, punch, beat or hurt a woman or even a man hurting a man. There’s absolute No Reason to do that(what is the Solution if any and that works and is fair? – or you can simply walk away!). The people who think Mr. Brown shouldn’t be celebrated at the Grammies are right, If he hasn’t asked people’s forgiveness. I know, they’re celebrating his music. Thats condoning his bad behavior still. Kids nowadays can then say I can do this and that in my everyday personal life, and I’ll still be rewarded. Thats separating a person’s Life into: I can do this and I can do that, even if it’s Wrong and still get a Reward!

There’s people on this site that will Not buy his music, no matter how good he sings, because a Lot of people Especially Women; Don’t like what he did to Rihanna! I’m a woman too and so K, I will Not buy his music/support him till he Stops his bad behavior! Or I hear an apology from him. Its good to see people with a good head on their shoulders thinking like this!! If its True Rihanna did hit him, then maybe he was hitting back in self-defence. But thats carrying it a little too far, because generally men are stronger than women. Show some strong self-control and hit lightly If need be, to get him/her away from you and/or walk away till anger fades! Very simple solutions!

  26. Sam • February 16, 2012 @ 8:01 PM

Ok people can you stop saying imagine how rihanna feels, its obvious how she feels they been together again lmao

It was obviously wrong what he did even if he was provoked, rihanna one badass chic :). But please stop saying this was disrespectful blah blah to rihanna do a damn google search of rihanna and chris brown before ya post thanks

  27. Sam • February 16, 2012 @ 8:13 PM

Also why dont we focus the anger or sadness on the women and men who are in a continuous abusive relationship. Cb incident is an one time incident that happened in the heat of the moment. Rihanna has never testfied she was beaten or assaulted before and cb exes have even vouhed for cb that he never hit them before. So lets move on until people have proof cb has done it before or continuing to do it. Everyone derserves second chance right? Isnt the prison system releasing pedophiles into the community???? Isnt that way worst thanla huge fight between a couple that turned ugly?????

  28. mike • February 16, 2012 @ 8:50 PM

everybody need to chill ok he messed up big time but he should nit have to pay for it for the rest of his life….hey look what white people done in history to women and children.

  29. Sam • February 16, 2012 @ 11:09 PM

If Rihanna can forgive Chris Brown for an one time incident I’m sure we all can move on.

P.S. Rita, didn’t Chris Brown pay for his fight? He got community service and counselling to do?

  30. Nobody Important • February 17, 2012 @ 5:31 AM

Again, race has nothing to do with it, so stop polarizing the debate.
I think most – sane – folks have a profound distain towards belligerent spousal abusers.

Anyone that lays a hand to a woman, and shows little remorse for their actions does not deserve a second chance.

  31. mike • February 17, 2012 @ 1:19 PM

well white people dnt deserve a second, third, fourth,or five chance

  32. mike • February 17, 2012 @ 1:20 PM

plus race has everything to do with it

Everyone needs to shut up! Leave him alone, he paid his debt to society and deserves to be forgiven. Their are plenty of famous white men who (brutally) beat their wives and girlfriends on the daily basis. No person should be allowed to judge another, so just shut up about it, after all your not getting paid for your opinion so what is your purpose?
