Celebs mock Donald Trump after climate tweet

U.S. President Donald Trump has put his foot, or his phone, rather, in his mouth yet again after tweeting about how the frigid East Coast could use some Global Warming to heat things up.
He tweeted: “In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!”
Indeed, parts of the U.S. and most of Canada (yesterday, Ottawa was named the coldest capital on Earth!) are experiencing a serious cold snap this winter.
But some scientifically-informed celebs aren’t laughing at Trump’s dig at the validity of climate change, citing that climate change means extreme weather, which includes swings in both directions of the thermometer.
Many took to their own Twitter accounts to call out Trump for what they think is his obvious ignorance regarding the issue (note: Trump pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement, making the country the only one not signed up with fighting the changing climate and the impact it’s having on our environment).
In addition to the usual name-calling, some celebrities also point to articles written by scientific authorities on climate change.

1- Trump is stuck in old verbiage, the term shifted from Global Warming to Climate Change to represent shifts in either direction.
2- Even NASA supports Climate Change. Last checked, they were not celebs and have some clout around the world.
3- I grew up in the prairies of Canada and 30 years ago, you couldn’t last 2 hours on Halloween due to the cold and mountains of snow. In recent years, I didn’t even need a jacket taking my kid out and snow is more patchy.
4- Wells went dry on family farms this year.
5- Near record rains in other parts of the country and the world.
6- To think we have ZERO impact on the earth with a population that has doubled since (to use a celeb reference) Al Pacino starred in The Godfather (1972), is beyond ignorant.

Climate change is frightening; we are too. We need to do a better job supporting an intelligent conversation. When climate, jobs, education, healthcare, etc.,worsen, we are able to reason that these are consequences from very specific decisions Trump, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell wittingly make. When other “more liberal” folks follow with disenfranchising decisions we need to call them out as well. Freedom in our democratic republic is in danger. It’s a consequence of our own divisiveness. Understanding the value of democracy and how we keep it is critical. History has shown us (again and again) that division of the people in democracies plays to the benefit of big money. Dismissal of meaningful dialogue promotes tyranny. Let’s be wise enough to have intelligent/welcoming conversation. I am not talking about watering down the truth or avoiding the real and essential concerns of our time. I believe in that old chant: “The people united, will never be defeated.” Let’s drain our own swamp.

They have claimed that one of the main impacts is a reduction of solar impact (sun spots). Yes folks it’s hard to believe, but most things don’t behave in a linear manner even the sun’s solar output. So what is this debate about anyhow? Global warming? It has been explicit in claiming global temperatures rising. No? I don’t believe there is anyone that disputes the cyclical nature of climate, but there has not been one OBJECTIVE scientific study that has been able to legitimately quantify the human impact on the climate. Not one! Governments sure as heck control the economies of the world, so why would people naively assume they could control the climate? #MAGA

Went on a cruise to the glaciers in Alaska two years ago and the park warden told us that the ice fields and the glaciers have begun expanding again, hmmm global change in reverse? As far as the scientist, if you don’t agree with global warming you can’t get a grant to prove otherwise. mother nature will look after herself whether we like it or not.

There legions of scientists the world over who have nothing to do with Hollywood who are ringing the alarm bells about climate change. The name shift from “global warming” to “climate change” happened several years ago, when the extreme weather patterns started showing up: so-called “100 year storms”, occurring every few years, category 5 hurricanes becoming common, forest fires that become raging infernos, ice melting in the arctic to the point where polar bears are starving to death because the environment is changing so drastically and quickly that they can’t adapt quickly enough…there are so many example of extreme weather, that to attribute the term change from global warming to climate change because of the US President’s latest tweet is being wilfully ignorant. Whether you believe science, believe the evidence that extreme weather is occurring more and more, and the burning of fossil fuels is the culprit, or whether you think that humans couldn’t possibly be responsible for the destruction of the environment we are seeing around us, the truth is here. The fires are burning, the tornadoes, the hurricanes, the flooding…they are coming to us all. Eventually, we will see. Eventually we will take the measures to save ourselves and the planet. And it has not a thing to do with whether you are liberal, conservative, from Hollywood, or from wherever. The truth is the truth. And we will have to deal with it. One good start for dealing with it? Being polite to each other. The rudeness of some of the comments was unnecessary. Not only unnecessary, but a contributing factor, on both sides, to the kind of polarity and division that is tearing up the world. We can each decide to be polite, to listen to opinions that we don’t necessarily agree with, with respect and kindness. It starts with us.
Why do we keep throwing billions of dollars at so called climate change-there have always been weather pattern changes-first of all I’m not sure it can all be changed no matter what we do and I along with many others aren’t at all sure the validity or reality of it and secondly those dollars that may not change a thing could be put to much better use such as helping the poor/the homeless and helping to create jobs and improve the economy-if we don’t have enough to provide for our families and provide financially for a decent existence first of all what the hell difference does throwing all this money at (so called) climate change really make-we are missing the most important thing which is taking care of our own and this means the economy should be the main focus
