Charlie Sheen’s replacement revealed

Ashton Kutcher has signed with CBS and Warner Bros. to replace Charlie Sheen on the hit sitcom, Two and a Half Men. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Kutcher will be paid $1 million per episode (Sheen was paid $2 million per episode). Kutcher let the news slip last night when he tweeted the cryptic message: “What’s the square root of 6.25?” His twitter followers realized what he meant when they figured out the answer is two and a half. According to The Hollywood Reporter, series creator and writer Chuck Lorre has crafted an ingenious storyline to introduce the 33-year-old actor to viewers. A source said: “It’s really funny. People are going to love it.” Another source added, “Chuck’s really happy.” It’s believed that Kutcher will bring a younger fan base to the show, and with 6.7 million Twitter followers, he’ll be an asset to CBS as far as promoting the show through social media. Sheen was fired last March after he publicly insulted Lorre on a radio show, then called him “a contaminated little maggot” in a note to an entertainment site.

Lorre and Sheen should have worked out their differences for us, the fans. That being said, the fact that the last few episodes of the Office without Steve Carrel have been impossibly hilarious, I reserve some faith in hopes that this may all turn out well.

Of all the great actors out there why pick this guy???????? I think they will lose a lot of viewers and the show will not last long.

I think it would be cool if Ashton is the love child of Charlie’s character, conceived when Charlie was 18 or 19 years old. He never met his Dad but has tracked him down for obvious financial gain and a place to continue his own party life style (the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree), be a not so great role model to Jake but still a kindred spirit, his cousin and a pain in the backside to his uncle Alan while developing a relationship with his “newly” discovered family, especially Grandma who can’t believe she has a grandson that old. I think they can deal with the MIA Charlie by saying he has taken off to live his self-indulgent life without dependents (not too much different from the real Charlie) but will send money to support them all while he finds himself and possibly even return (if Chuck ever forgives him) for a much anticipated reunion with his long lost son. Yep…works for me. Also, Ashton is yummy biscuit too and will have the assortment of cute girls to keep the big boys interested.

It will be interesting to see how he is written into the show.

I’ll give it a chance, I wasn’t a die hard fan of the show but watched it when I had nothing else to do. We’ll see but history shows that those moves don’t usually pay off, if only for one season.

wasn’t a huge fan to begin with but wouldn’t be surprised if Ashton surpasses Sheen’s performance…

I think it will be more interesting to see how Sheen is written off the show. I expect something humiliating.

So he got hired because he has 6.7 million followers on twitter? He might only average around 50 thousands hits a day on it. I cannot see he being suited for this show.

I predict lots will watch the first show then it dies off. It’s like “10 rules for Dating by Teenage Daughter”, once Ritter died they added 2 high profile actors (James Garner and David Spade) and it still tanked. Kutcher may be popular but I do not see it going anywhere. It should have ended on a high note of being the #1 show she Sheen left, let’s start all over and get new blood on TV.
