Chris Brown withdraws from awards show

Chris BrownChris Brown withdrew his name from the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards yesterday because of the felony assault charges against him for allegedly attacking Rihanna. Nickelodeon was under pressure from parents to remove Brown as a nominee, but they refused, despite an online petition calling for his name to be withdrawn that had garnered over 10,000 signatures. Nickelodeon spokesman Dan Martinsen said: “Chris Brown was nominated by kids several months ago based on his body of work as performer, and the kids who vote will ultimately decide who wins in the category.” Yesterday, after Brown announced his withdrawal, his spokesperson said, “Chris very much appreciates the support of his fans and the honor they have paid him in the way of nominations for favourite male singer and favourite song. While Chris would like to speak to his fans directly about this and other issues, pending legal proceedings preclude his doing so at this time. Once the matter before him has been resolved, he intends to do so.”

hopefully that “intention” to speak to his fans will be transmitted through the glass window via his lawyer…

LOL! i agree jo-anne. this guy doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near an awards party, he deserves a jail cell which wont happen of course, celebs rarely if ever do time. good for the parents , i hope the kids understand why! this is the smartest thing brown has done so far. i hope hes honest with the kids when that time comes.

I think the Chris and Rihanna incident is only for them to know and everyone else should back-off. It’s a private matter and no matter how big the problem was not everyone has to know. I am still a Chris Brown and a Rihanna fan, maybe even more than before after this incident. They’re still great people. Chris is still a great role-model, he’s proved that even celebrities make mistakes but they try to solve it no matter what. He withdrew himself from the Kids Choice Award, possible thinking he did not deserve the praise, and that is something a great role-model would do.
