Christian Bale didn’t want Jennifer Lawrence in new movie

Although she’s one of the hottest new stars in Hollywood, not everyone was thrilled with the idea of Jennifer Lawrence starring in the crime-drama American Hustle. Christian Bale, who plays Jennifer’s husband in the movie, caught up with website Popcrush and revealed that originally, he was not happy with the casting choice. Christian believed the age difference between him and Jennifer would not work with the story line as the character had never been written that young. Jennifer is 23 and Christian is turning 40 next year. Although initially skeptical, Christian came around and saw Jennifer’s true talent.

He revealed, “To me, it introduced a whole new aspect to the story that I expressed to [the director] and to Jennifer herself. I said, ‘With all due respect, how are we going to manage this?’ And she played it so well . . . [as] a woman clearly with these sort of father issues, and so you don’t question it. I was very impressed with her, how she managed to overcome the problems that I saw through it, and it’s a really unique film.” American Hustle is based on the FBI ABSCAM operation of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner and hits theaters on December 25^th. ~Brie Davis
