By Alexandra Heilbron on May 30, 2008 | 56 Comments

Clay AikenAccording to TMZ.com, American Idol Season 2 runner-up Clay Aiken, 29, is going to be a father. Multiple sources told the gossip site that the mother is Jaymes Foster, a 50-year-old record producer and Clay’s best friend. He lives at her home when he’s in Los Angeles. Foster, who is divorced, has produced several of Aiken’s albums. She’s due to give birth in August. She’s the younger sister of Canadian composer David Foster, who co-penned (with Aiken) and produced a song on Aiken’s latest album, On My Way Here. Aiken will have an active role in raising the child. It’s believed Foster was artificially inseminated.

Well duh – of course artifically inseminated!

  2. K Duarte • May 30, 2008 @ 8:04 AM

This is just totally WRONG…on every level!

  3. Sick of Celeb Junk • May 30, 2008 @ 8:09 AM

Who cares? You know people who are not famous do this kind of shit all the time – no one cares. Just because you know someone’s name and fae doesn’t make them any different than the rest of the world. Leave them alone and get your own life!

  4. crappy • May 30, 2008 @ 8:14 AM

Wow…this is wrong on so many levels and until Clay comes out (no pun intended) with the truth it will be just a rumour to me. Most religions are against artifical insemination. I don’t see how Clay would have agreed to this. Unless the baby REALLY looks like Clay, I won’t believe it.

  5. krissy • May 30, 2008 @ 8:30 AM

all the best for them…good luck with everything !!!

  6. cathy • May 30, 2008 @ 8:33 AM

    OMG, WHAT is she thinking?

  7. thesewords • May 30, 2008 @ 8:36 AM

i was about to say, clay aiken got laid, but sadly for tha tloser, its a no, she prob wanted her kid to have his high cheekbones, and girlie walk, that poor unborn baby

  8. Wendy Whalen • May 30, 2008 @ 9:13 AM

it’s just like michael jackson and debra all over again…yikes! what do you tell the children when they are old enough to understand that they were artificially created in a lab ???Wow, what is ths world coming to???There must be a price to pay for playing God,and unfortunatley it will be a price these children wil have to deal with all their lives. All those poor, innocent parentless children just waiting to be adopted and they do this just because they want to see what they can create from their own DNA.It’s just not right.

  9. dance2thebeat • May 30, 2008 @ 9:41 AM

Not that it’s really our business, but good for them! While I am a little concerned for her age, what a great way for 2 people who love each other to have a child – if they are truly best friends, they have a better shot than many married couples!

  10. Anonymous • May 30, 2008 @ 9:47 AM

Um…. it doesn’t say anywhere that they love each other or are together anyway… it says he might be involved in the child’s life, but it sounds more like she chose to have a child and wanted him, because of their friendship to be the biological father…

  12. Bonita Sorfleet • May 30, 2008 @ 11:16 AM

    Sick!

  13. JudgeJudi • May 30, 2008 @ 11:16 AM

I hope the mother goes for amniocentesis, and a brain scan – at her age a baby could be in a very dangerous position, if it makes it to term at all. I think it’s sad that at 50 she decides greedily to have a baby with what she thinks to be “superhuman” genes to SING like her “friend” Clay. Why not adopt a NEEDY child – so many on this earth. Even the “Material Girl” has opened her heart for needy children! Forget the turkey baster.

  14. susie alexander • May 30, 2008 @ 11:33 AM

    seriously…WTF!!!
im reading the article thinking that he found a nice girl, his age.despite the rumours that he is gay(not thats theres anything wrong that)a 50 yr woman artifically inseminated only in hollyweird man.only in hollyweird
that kid probably wont have a chance

  15. ashley • May 30, 2008 @ 12:30 PM

Wow that’s sick, ppl say age doesnt matter just as long as you love the person but, serioulsy 21 years older that’s a bit crazy.

  16. Reno • May 30, 2008 @ 1:13 PM

I bet when people read the headline to this they thought he had actually had sex with a woman….lol

  17. Childless (not our decision) • May 30, 2008 @ 1:50 PM

To all of u who think that people should be adopting instead of getting artificially inseminated.Think about us–who are married for years and have gone through testing to find that we are okay to conceive only to be let down 15 years later(after trying to get pregnant on or own)–after artificial insemination and and invitro fertilization has failed at an “emotional and financial” cost.Have u ever thought that some women would like to go through a pregnancy of their own. Adoption was considered for us-but there is also an emotional and financial cost to consider with that. It’s not that easy to JUST ADOPT–there’s a lot of steps that need to be followed, and we have been on a waiting list for 5 years.I know this is about Clay Aiken-but you need to know why artificial insemination took place for them–there could be various reasons unknown to us.Have a heart, and reconsider telling people to JUST ADOPT.

  18. Nancy • May 30, 2008 @ 1:58 PM

Well, everyone who comes to Tribute and comments, pretty much knows MY opinion on this topic!!

  19. Nancy • May 30, 2008 @ 2:00 PM

Oh, and just for the record, in this picture, Clay looks like a damn Chucky doll!!

  20. db • May 30, 2008 @ 2:10 PM

Wendy Whelan and JudgeJudi do either of you have biological children? Why wouldn’t you adopt some “needy” child!?! Just because they are famous are they not allowed to have biological children of their own just like everyone else? And to everyone that said “poor child”…are you kidding me!!! What makes you think that just because they are not a “traditional” family that the child will have a less than fabulous life? That child will grow up in a better home environment than a lot of “poor children” out there! NOBODY writing in this column or reading it knows their story, if they are in love or just friends, why they chose to have a child or how they will raise it AND it’s none of our business. If the people critizing in this column spent as much time and energy helping those truly poor children or another charity, maybe then this world would be a better place!!!

  21. Odin • May 30, 2008 @ 2:31 PM

Look at it this way, with the mother the age she is, known to have a dangerous lifestyle (having a baby with Clay): if she dies while the kid is still young, it will still have a mother figure to look up to. Or with the way genetics plays surprises with recessive genes, maybe the kid will be tonedeaf, totally butch, and given to hanging out at karaoke bars.

  22. JudgeJudi • May 30, 2008 @ 2:52 PM

Give me a break – this woman could easily afford to adopt a child, tomorrow if she wanted. She just thinks Clay has magic singing genes – Note who her brother is – David Foster. Besides she has been married before and may have biological children. Do you really think this is a love relationship? Reminds me of Liz Taylor and Michael Jackson. And yes I have had 2 biological sons, one was killed in Afghanistan last summer (Don’t judge other people’s free speech comments – life isn’t always fair – that is far more emotionally painful then never having a child, although I understand your pain too), I lost 2 pregnancies as well. I’m around her age – it would be like having my oldest son’s baby, if he were still here. Seems a little sick to me, not to mention a risky pregnancy for the BABY. Why would she take that chance? I see it as pure selfishness. Sorry to disappoint some, but the majority seem to feel very much the same as I do.

  23. Dar • May 30, 2008 @ 3:10 PM

I know he didn’t even saying anything about it on jay Leno last nite. So for all we know it could be a national enquirer type story.

  24. Dar • May 30, 2008 @ 3:13 PM

I second the Chucky Doll remark adn his laugh is absolutely awful. He was laughing a lot on Jay Leno last nite

  25. KB • May 30, 2008 @ 3:35 PM

Reading everyones comments here, I have come to one conclusion ~ who cares how old she is, whether the child was created via insemination, if he is gay or not, can sing, has high cheek bones or whatever you want to pin on Clay and Jaymes… right now the only thing that matters is that this child is brought into a loving, caring, safe environment. If they can provide all this to the child, let them be. The world is cruel enough without your rude and derogatory comments. Congrats Jaymes and Clay!

  26. JudgeJudi • May 30, 2008 @ 3:41 PM

db @2:10 – Wake Up! Clay is so gay, but he is a great singer! And what charitable contributions have you made to this world to make it a better place, I’ve lost a son for our country and great world – you don’t even write a name, you hide behind initials only, makes me think you should follow your own advice.

Dar – I think you mean he was giggling like a schoolgirl on Leno’s show.

  27. tributegirl • May 30, 2008 @ 3:50 PM

Like many others, my first thought was that he actually had sex with a female, but apparently not. I can’t imagine getting pregnant, especially on purpose, at her age. She will be more like a grandmother to this child, than a mother. And what will she do if this child has a severe handicap? It is not an easy task to take on for someone young, imagine her at 75 with a 25 year old heavily dependant child. I wish them all the best, but in my opinion, this was a very stupid and selfish thing for them to do.

  28. ladya • May 30, 2008 @ 4:06 PM

Some of the comments on here make me sick. Judgemental anyone?

I’d like to see where most religions are against AI. It’s actually fairly accepted.

The only issue I have here is the mother’s age. 50 is really pushing it for having a healthy child… and shouldn’t that be the biggest concern here? Not if Clay Aiken is gay, straight, bent, sideways, or purple.

  29. JudgeJudi • May 30, 2008 @ 4:11 PM

Celebrities are under a microscope the minute they become famous. They know that – people live to hear celebrity screw-ups, maybe it makes their lives a little more bearable. If stars really want to be left alone, then they should try to stay out of the limelight. There are a few, Tom Hanks comes to mind in particular, I’ve never seen any dirt gossip on. He carefully chooses what to attend and not to attend. He keeps his private life private. If a star as big as that can keep out of the Scandal pages, well I think everyone can fill in the blanks here. Many stars use scandal to promote themselves, I believe Clay is releasing a new CD right now and working the talk show circuit too. He’s looking for attention. Now he’s got it. Great Marketing technique!

  30. Nancy • May 30, 2008 @ 4:11 PM

The child will probably look like a Chucky doll, too. Seed of Chucky!!

  31. db • May 30, 2008 @ 4:19 PM

    AI is that artificial intelligence?

  32. Poppa John's in Exile • May 30, 2008 @ 5:31 PM

He IS a talented singer, reminiscent of Barry Manilow et al., but that’s where it ends. He’s a weird looking dude!!!

  33. sue • May 30, 2008 @ 6:10 PM

The Fosters deny this whole story.
Though she is pregnant they deny Clay is the father.

  34. Poppa John's in Exile • May 30, 2008 @ 6:32 PM

    Wouldn’t YOU??

  35. mike m • May 30, 2008 @ 9:06 PM

I stumbled upon this and boy this explains quite a bit. this world is screwed up because of judgmental assholes that spread hatred and have nothing better to do than gossip. i know a lot of males that are kind of feminine acting and they are straight and i know some that are masculine and gay. to the person that lost her son, i am deeply sorry that this world is so screwed up that we have to sacrifice our sons and daughters, but didn’t he die for that very freedom that you are gossiping about. I would like to make it clear that i am not a clay fan, don’t like his singing and am not interested in what he does.
    get a life

  36. Jo-Anne • May 30, 2008 @ 11:48 PM

    Right on, Mike
I am not a Clay fan either but making fun of his appearance, ie.. chucky doll comments are pathetic. The only anger I gather from your comments is correctly directed at this type of thing.
    warning –
if you stick around long enough, tributegirl should be on shortly in defence of Nancy and trashing you and I….
    be very scared

  37. jb • May 31, 2008 @ 4:20 PM

WHY AM I IN MODERATION? Other people were allowed to express their opinions – I thought that this was an open minded website. If I lost my son what in the hell does that have to do with what Mike M is saying about gossip. My son was not in Afghanistan to stop dishing dirt on celebrities – hello?? My son didn’t die to stop gossip! He’s way off base with his rude comments and I think I should be allowed to respond. Gossiping is just talk, not spreading hatred as he implies!

  38. mooney • May 31, 2008 @ 9:03 PM

I don’t get it does this Mike guy think a woman lost her son in a war over gossip? I think it was over much more serious issues. Everybody gossips, male and female – and no one has gone to war about it yet. Some people have really weird chips on their shoulders or something to hide. And am I right is he not gossiping writing what he did about someone else too?

  39. Anonymous • June 1, 2008 @ 6:27 PM

don’t sweat it jo-anne; nancy is a pig with a very big mouth, without a f*ckin brain in her head or anything intelligent to say, whatsoever. she’s proved that in column after column – knows everything about everything, and guns down everybody else and their opinion as crap. i wish tribute would block her site from posting …it’s truly an annoyance to sort through their self-adoring.

  40. Jo-Anne • June 1, 2008 @ 9:32 PM

Hey, tributegirl, (number one fan of Nancy) I like it just fine.
So, everyone doesn’t agree with your outlook, suck it up.
Thanks for giving me your permission though to leave.

p.s. I couldn’t sleep a wink last night cuz I was so disturbed by Nancy’s “gay” remarks – I was very very scared.
    what a joke.

  41. Jo-Anne • June 1, 2008 @ 11:22 PM

    Nancy,
You are older than ten, no?
It’s been awhile since I had a swearing match in the schoolyard…a very long while.

it’s just that you come across so immature, perhaps I’d be better off talking to your mom

  42. Kim • June 2, 2008 @ 7:31 AM

Is this for real? These people need to see a shrink because their heads are not screwed on …
This chick is 50 and having a child???? If I never knew the difference I’d say Clay is trying to pull a Anna Nicole stunt but will get child support instead on a lower level…… Dumb@ss people

  43. Nancy • June 2, 2008 @ 11:46 AM

Oooooh, another ‘NO BALLS’ Anonymous!! First of all, I have NEVER called anyone a ‘pig’, especially someone I have never met in my life. Bet you wouldn’t have the balls to say it to my face either. Stop hiding behind your computer. I have more brain and intelligence than you and Jo-Anne put together and yes, I voice my opinion on this site, as do all of you but, I never claimed to know everything about everything and do not gun down others opinions as crap…only when they direct their ‘crap’ opinions at me, such as you have done. We are here to post our comments about the articles that Tribute posts, but you and your ignorant buddies seem to think that you can personally attack other commenters here and they will not have any balls, like you, and stand up for themselves…well, you’re barking up the wrong tree here! If Tribute hasn’t blocked you then they definately will not block me as they know that I do give my opinion yes, but that I also let others have theirs. So drift!

  44. Mooney • June 2, 2008 @ 2:53 PM

It’s funny how some minds are so small that they actually think gossiping and hatred are the same thing. Hardly, if someone is gay so what – no one really cares, but it sells newspapers. I still can’t belive that some people think the war in Afghanisstan is for gay rights or something? Does anyone remember 9/11 or the Twin Towers? – now that was HATRED not gossip.

  45. tributegirl • June 3, 2008 @ 1:43 AM

And my opinion is…don’t read this if your name is Jo-Anne…the woman in this article, Jaymes Foster, is crazy to be having a baby at her age. She will be more like a grannie than a mommy. And, I think Clay is gay, not that there is anything wrong with that!!! Good God, no! It is lovely, just lovely, if he is! (that’s for all the straight-haters) I know he has said that he is not gay, but I still think he is. And as a possible gay man, I’m sure he will make a WONDERFUL father, but maybe it’s just the “phobia” in me, but I have to say that I am quite happy that MY father is straight.

  46. Nancy • June 3, 2008 @ 2:18 AM

And doesn’t look like CHUCKY!!! 🙂

    Yee-haw…I’m a magnet!!

  47. tributegirl • June 3, 2008 @ 4:19 AM

No, my father does NOT look like a gay chuckie!

  48. Anonymous • June 4, 2008 @ 1:44 AM

    Clay Aiken is my father!

  49. tributegirl • June 4, 2008 @ 8:22 AM

Anon, that is something NO ONE would ever want to admit!

  50. Nancy • June 4, 2008 @ 8:55 AM

Are you sure she’s not your mother? LMFAO

  51. tributegirl • June 4, 2008 @ 9:19 AM

Omg, I’m suddenly feeling soooooo sorry for this poor baby!!! Imagine, mommy is ancient, and daddy is a pansy!

  52. Nancy • June 4, 2008 @ 10:41 AM

LMFAO! A pansy who looks like CHUCKY!!! What do you think, Jo-Anne?

  53. tributegirl • June 4, 2008 @ 11:40 AM

    ROFLMAO!!!!!

  54. Idunno • June 4, 2008 @ 3:06 PM

I think this is a bunch of B.S. How could anyone that old get pregnant…Isnt she past her menopause yet???

  55. tributegirl • June 5, 2008 @ 3:38 PM

    Apparently not!

  56. Nancy • June 5, 2008 @ 9:19 PM

You should always be prepared for a storm….wear your ‘raincoat’!!!
