Cloverfield destroys the competition

The new horror movie Cloverfield featuring a cast of unknowns dominated the weekend box office, taking in $41 million (all figures US). Another new release, the romantic comedy 27 Dresses starring Katherine Heigl, took the No. 2 spot with $22.4 million. The Bucket List starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson dropped to third place, earning $15.2 million, while Juno dropped a spot to fourth, taking in $10.3 million. National Treasure: Book of Secrets rounded out the top five with $8.1 million.
