Farrell helps homeless man

Colin Farrell at TIFFCurrently in Toronto to promote his new film, Cassandra’s Dream, Colin Farrell ran into a homeless man outside the Intercontinental hotel on Bloor street. The man, known as Stress, first met Farrell four years ago, when the Irish actor was shooting A Home at the End of the World in Toronto, and as it turns out, Farrell remembered him. According to the National Post, Stress let it slip that his 55th birthday was coming up, so Farrell took him shopping to a store called Europe Bound. They picked up a thermal sleeping bag, new clothing and luggage, totalling over $2,000. Before dropping Stress off in Yorkville with his new goods, Farrell slipped him a wad of cash and paid a year’s rent on a room for him.

Nice to see that those with more are willing to help and since I don’t think this is something he leaked to the press, makes modest as well, an intriguing quality for a person who is in the spotlight.

Hats off to you Mr. Farrell

Sometimes all homeless people need is one person who actually does something practical for them, like Mr. Farrell in this case, instead of talking about it. He gave the man a big boost – now it’s up to the man. Good for you, Colin Farrell!!

This is a great story! I’ve only heard about Colin’s womanizing ways which is how he is usually portrayed. It is fantastic to see an actor who is unselfish and does deeds like this one. Hollywood can truly make a difference here in North America, not just abroad. Way to go Colin!

It’s really nice that there’s still people out there that have the means to give – and do, without expecting anything in return. and think of his example – if two more well-off people give because of Farrell’s example, then four, then eight – it could change so many lives. Good for him.

Maybe he’s heard that song that asks “What if God was one of us?” Too bad everybody doesn’t think along those same lines. Being nice is so easy and yet everbody is in such a hurry these days or just plain selfish that we forget how to be nice.

Sad when you think about it. There is so much money out there, so much food out there, etc. There really is no reason why some people are homeless, go to bed hungry, die from treatable illnesses or suffer needlessly.

Way to go Colin for showing us easy it is!

That brought a tear to my eye. I wish more people were like him. I wish I could afford to be like him! I do what I can to help too but I can’t to that extent. Considering what a reputation people have put on him….he is obviously a good guy. Way to go Colin. I think I found a new fave…; )

Way to go Colin! Perhaps other celebs could learn something from this. You can’t save everyone , but you can save some. Donating more money to the needy is a great cause.
