College student to wed Edward Cullen standee

University of Nevada student Lauren Adkins recently announced she is planning to marry a standee (cardboard cut-out) of the famous fictional Twilight character, Edward Cullen, for her thesis. In fact, the 24-year-old is planning the entire arrangement of her wedding in her Master’s thesis. Adkins stated, “This work focuses on the female escapist fantasy in its most popular forms — primarily finding true love — and the extent to which it seeps into our real lives,” according to The Huffington Post. The wedding will take place January 26, 2013. Lauren has organized a campaign on Indiegogo to raise money for her ceremony and so far has made $1,235. She explained: “I’ve looked at this fantasy primarily through a pop cultural lens; that is, I’ve used film and television’s representations of the love story and female characters in general in an attempt to understand my own expectations of love. Because of personal attachment to and experience with this fantasy or quest, which took a particularly strong hold of me when I discovered the intensely popular Twilight Saga, my thesis is going to touch on romantic expectation primarily through the main love interest, Edward Cullen.” ~Luxy Hariharan

@Frankie, you are right bud, absolutely right. If only my master’s thesis was this easy and convoluted. Then again, she must be doing this to get the media attention, which would make her thesis stand out even more appealing to the eyes of the department at her school. There is no significance in this study other than perpetuate a random notion that everybody already realizes, that for the better part of human history was more civil and intelligent with the absence of twilight, and this thesis just exemplifies the stupidity of the culture that is brought up with the influence of this excrement we call the twilight saga.
