Cops regret helping Halle Berry

Halle Berry carrying Nahla at LAXOn January 4th, when many people were waiting in long lineups at Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport, with some missing their flights as they stood for hours in queues for U.S. Customs, actress Halle Berry, her boyfriend Gabriel Aubry and their 22-month-old daughter Nahla were escorted by a uniformed police officer past the waiting non-famous people (a.k.a. “peons”), according to the Toronto Star. The couple and their child breezed right on through, despite disbelief from passengers who’d been waiting for an hour or more. When questioned by the media about the incident, Montreal police said the officer should not have given preferential treatment. Inspector Jimmy Cacchione told the paper, “Our policy doesn’t support these VIP treatments. I issued orders so this won’t happen again.”

Yes, it never should have happened to begin with. And, of course, Gabriel and Halle didn’t say a word about it not being fair that they get special treatment, none of the celebs do. Yet, when they don’t get their own way or they want privacy or cameras are in their faces, they complain and say “We are just normal people. Leave us alone. Give us some space to raise our child away from the spotlight.”

the only reason stars get such special treatment is because the public allows it. if they want to be treated like “normal” people then they wouldnt be using body guards and police escorts. i can understand with all the psychos out there, but us “normal” people are also at just as high of a risk of being attacked anywhere we go. im surprised this actually made the news, im sure this isnt the first celeb to do this, just the first one they want to make look bad over it.

You’re right, the public needs to stop “allowing” celebs to get special treatment…which is exactly why I think this made the news. It’s the publics way of fighting back.

I think there’s many celebs out there not asking nor wanting special treatment….so many avoid public spotlight and prefer to be left alone…

in this case, obviously Halle and Gabriel took the star treatment, which of course would have caused upset for those waiting in line, and rightly so….

I’d be p*ssed if I were waiting in line and saw someone else getting preferential treatment. The people in line very well could have done or be on their way to do more for humanity than some of these celebs.

I have no problem with them having body guards, or police escorts, because I do think they are at much higher risk of being attacked than the rest of us. Remember the crazy guy that saw the body double of Miley Cyrus and screamed that he was going to kill her? So I don’t mind them having extra protection, esp if it is at their own expense, but this preferential treatment is just wrong. They are more famous than the rest of us, but are no more important than anyone else.

And, if they want quicker service at airports, they can afford a private jet.

I’m Ok with them being fast tracked through the airport. Although I don’t like listening to us lower class people whinning about how long it takes to get on a plane, I really don’t want to listen to an inflated celebrity ego go on and on about it even more. So please, send them through, set up a seperate line for them, give them all the extra attention they need to help them out. Even better, I’ll pay extra tax for this too…

I wouldn’t be willing to pay extra tax for that, John, and don’t feel that they are better than anyone else.
