Corey Haim found dead at 38

Toronto-born actor Corey Haim, who found fame and success in Hollywood while in his teens, was found dead this morning of what is believed to be a prescription drug overdose at his mother’s apartment in Los Angeles. He was 38. It has not yet been determined whether the overdose was suicide or accidental, but he collapsed in front of his mother at approximately 1 a.m. this morning, and she immediately called 911. Haim got his start at age 11 playing a regular role in the Canadian series The Edison Twins, but it was in 1986 at age 14 that he gained Hollywood stardom when he played the title role in 20th Century Fox’s Lucas, also starring Winona Ryder. Other hit movies include The Lost Boys opposite Corey Feldman, with whom he would later co-star in the reality TV series The Two Coreys. Last year, he made a comeback of sorts when he played a role in Crank: High Voltage. Haim had battled with drug addiction since his teens. ~Alexandra Heilbron

How ironic that he’s dead now too. Supposedly there were rumors he had been molested at 13-14y.o by Michael Jackson, he said on a reality show how he had been molested but never said by whom, but the rumor was MJ.
Also remember that kid that got a settlement from MJ for child molestation charges? well HIS father died, not too long ago, it was said he had commited suicide or something, so it’s really freaky how everyone involved with MJ and molestation are dying….OOOOH haunting !!
Josie, are you referring to Corey Feldman? He was the Corey who hung out with Michael Jackson, not Corey Haim. And the man who committed suicide did it after MJ died, it’s believed he felt tremendous guilt at having accused an innocent man of such a serious crime, just so he could get rich.
Feldman said he was molested when he was a kid, but admitted it was his assistant. In an interview for GQ, Feldman said: “People can say whatever they want, but it wasn��t Michael. The guy that did this to me was my assistant.”

Thanks Johnny. 🙂 I should add that I read a lot of biographies, and it’s rare to find a child star who wasn’t molested or raped. They spend so much time with adults, often unsupervised by their parents, that they’re very easy targets. Plus, it’s usually by someone who has power over their career, so the rapist threatens to destroy their career if they tell anyone. Shirley Temple was raped by someone high up at a movie studio, according to her autobiography, but more than 50 years later, she won’t name the rapist. Which is still common, they rarely name names. Former Quebec child star Nathalie Simard is a rare case because she went public with the name of her rapist (her manager Guy Cloutier, who went to jail for it, but served a relatively short sentence), although not until years later, when her career was over and he wanted nothing to do with her (he only likes children). And this is speculation, but you have to wonder why the Olsen twins fired their manager as soon as they turned 18 and said they wanted nothing more to do with him. They often traveled with him as their sole guardian, because their father was at home with his new wife and family, and their mother stayed at home with their brother and younger sister.
Deena..you are right it was Corey Feldman that MJ was accused of molesting.I heard a interview he did with Howard Stern and he out right stated it was not MJ who molested him at all,it was his manager’s assistant who did that dirty deed!!

Deena, your facts are right on, also the father of the boy who accused MJ (the father who committed suicide last summer), his son admitted that his father got him to lie about the molestation, and that MJ never touched him. Some people are so money hungry they don’t care who they hurt. I think the biggest shame there was the now grown boy told the truth AFTER MJ died, it would have been nice for the truth to have been told while he was still alive.

This is very tragic news. I watched “the Two Coreys” a couple years back so like Johnny I’m not totally surprised by the news but very disappointed. I saw him in Crank 2 and was very excited about his comeback into movies (being a fan from when I was younger).
I can only imagine how his mother is feeling right now. Having a child die is hard enough, but to see it happen in front of you must be torture. My condolences to his family and i wish them a quick recovery.

Its really a waste of talent, of the Two Coreys, Haim was the only one who could really act. RIP kid.
