Court allows Mel Gibson to retain visiting rights

A judge ruled yesterday during a custody hearing at a Los Angeles court that Mel Gibson will retain visitation rights to see his baby daughter Lucia. Oksana Grigorieva, the mother of the child, wanted his custody rights revoked, claiming that the actor/director knocked her teeth out in January. Gibson’s current agreement will remain in place, which allows him daytime visits and one overnight stay per week. Gibson’s legal team is claiming that Grigorieva tried to extort more than $10 million from Gibson in exchange for recordings in which he rages at her at the top of his lungs while calling her vile names and saying she stole his money. Gibson’s case was helped by his estranged wife, Robyn, who wrote to the judge to say he was never violent towards her and was “a wonderful father” to their seven children. Though she filed for divorce in 2009, it has not been finalized.

I have been trying to find something anywhere that actually has evidence that he hit her. I find it hard to believe. I can grasp the tapes and the rants…but is there evidence somewhere that he actually hit her?

nope, like i said on the other mel article (about her son and the police) if he beat her or “knocked out her teeth” there would be evidence, proof, hospital visits, she would have brought it out into the open as soon as it happened, there would have been pictures etc. clearly she has no issues with trying to ruin mels life, so why would she, just NOW when she is going for custody of their child, choose to bring up previous abuse? she has been in the media yapping about mel since the minute they broke up, she has been looking for attention, money and sympathy from everyone, she has spent her time trying to ruin mels life and his career, she has even went as far as to take away his freedom of speech rights. i heard it is illegal to record a conversation you are having with someone without warning them first that they are being recorded, is that only in canada? if not then shouldnt she be charged with something?

Her dentist is going to testify and he has pictures taken before she had the teeth fixed. She wouldn’t let him report it when she went to him initially because she was still with Mel and was hoping everything would work out.

Oh and I think that’s only the police who have to tell you your conversation is being taped when they ask you to come to the station and give a statement. I watch a lot of real life crime shows and when there’s a person who knows someone else committed a crime, like murder, they get that person to call or get together with the murderer and an install a hidden tape recorder. Then the person tries to get the murderer to admit to the murder, or give details about it. Because if they went to the murderer and said, “By the way, I’m taping this conversation but I swear I won’t tell anyone that you’re admitting to murdering that girl,” then there would still be a lot of murderers walking around in the U.S.

Everyone is ready to crucify him instantly even though there’s no proof but Michael Kackson can diddle who knows how many kids and hang his newborn baby over a balcony with the world watching and he’s considered a Saint! Come on!

When he left his wife and kids for this gold digger I believe I wrote then that this would happen. I also said they deserved one another still do. I honestly don’t believe all her accusations against Mel. She made sure she got pregnant so she could do exactly what she’s doing now, it’s all about HIS MONEY never was about him.Maybe Mr. Gibson should have stayed home with his zipper zipped and his Viagra in the back of the closet.

message to amanda. when police ask someone to record a phone conversation, they do so with a search warrent….and they listen in. with these tapes, we dont know whats been cut out.
with these tapes, how come mels voice is all raspy…but her voice sounds like shes in a recording studio?

  8. Jo-Anne • July 19, 2010 @ 7:05 AM

well said, mandee…and mitch, “we don’t know what’s been cut out” totally agree….can visualize G.D.O. (gold digger-O) doing a major hatchet job on the tapes…

I hope the judge hasn’t made a big mistake. This woman and her kid may now be in danger.

Mel Gibson is such a nice guy its hard to believe these kinda things. Maybe he does have alcoholism issues or whatever but honestly like everyone says if he hit her, anywhere they’d see it.

Remember the Chris brown incident? where are her bruises? wheres the proof in this incident?

As I mentioned earlier in my posts. I STILL have not heard or seen any of the evidence of this supposed abuse. Lets say she did have dental work done and there were damaged teeth. Why oh why would she have not reported it to the police. I certainly will not buy the battered woman syndrome (which is very real in many other cases) because she is clearly not afraid of him. She has leaked tapes and is blabbing to the press whenever she can. So why not report it? Maybe not that day but even a day later. This whole story smells of a publicity stunt.

    With regards to Mitch’s comment:

I agree with you as well. It seems rather odd to me that Mel Gibson would be using such an old or horrible cell phone to yield such bad reception. Once more such bad reception more that one time…And then her response is as clear as a recording artist in a sound studio. I would hope (but will not hold my breath) that a judge will request the raw footage of these conversations. I also hope that the judge orders that the footage be analyzed for tampering and authenticity by professionals.

Amanda on July 16, 2010 3:07 PM actually, i think its ONLY the police that dont have to tell that they are recording you (in situations exactly like the one you described i mean). everyone else has to be up front.

Mike on July 18, 2010 6:22 PM it isnt nice to talk about those who have passed on in such terrible ways.

L1feless on July 20, 2010 12:09 PM excellent comment, i never even thought of that. 😀
