Cowell to quit Idol

Simon Cowell says he will quit as judge of American Idol and the similar British show The X Factor in three years time, when his contract runs out. He told the Daily Mirror: “There has to come a point when I will step down from being on camera and remain behind the scenes because you can’t keep doing this forever. I have three more seasons under contract with American Idol and that will be it. And it will probably come at the same time as the UK. I am contracted for another two or three seasons in Britain and I think by that point the public will be sick to death of me anyway so it will be time to go. I’ve been lucky, but I also know when not to outstay my welcome.
If Simon quit American Idol today it wouldn’t be soon enough. He is way too harsh. Effective criticism is one thing but mean is something else. 3 more years of him and there won’t be a need for a replacement because he will wreck the show and there won’t be an audience anymore.
Idol just wouldent be the same with out Simon!

Well, I was never a big fan of American Idol or any other Idol because I prefer karaoke in a bar-type setting…not on national television 3 nights a week. And honestly, after Simon leaves, I do not see why anyone would continue watching. Randy is annoying and Paula is just useless. Let’s end reality TV. Bring back Arrested Development!

As a matter of fact he is british, look it up! Anywho, if in fact Simon does leave the show I am sure it will lose a lot of viewers.

Who cares??? He could stay or go for all I care, I don’t watch these ridiculous shows that America shits out every 3 seconds. I’d rather donate my teeth to the people in West Virginia!!!

If Simon leaves, I’m never going to watch American Idol again. Paula and Randy just agree with each other most of the time, and Simon is the only one who ever tells the truth, no matter how harsh it may seem. The truth hurts. That’s why they’re called JUDGES, and Simon is the only true judge there.
i think simon Cowel should rethink of not Quiting american idol cause it wouldient be the same and i am his biggest fan and i love to see him on this show whenever it comes back

Simon is a good judge — he tells it like it is, and I find most of the time he’s right on — harsh sometimes, true, but overall very consistent and knowledgeable.
