Crystal to get Mark Twain prize

Billy CrystalBilly Crystal has been chosen as the 10th recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, given annually by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Crystal has hosted the Academy Awards ceremony eight times, has won a Tony for his one-man Broadway show. He sprang into the public eye on the sitcom Soap, playing one of the first openly gay characters on television. The award presentation will take place October 11 and will be televised on PBS.
