Daniel Craig, who created controversy when he was first cast as James Bond because he’s blond, believes the world is now ready for a black Bond. Currently on a tour to promote the new Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, he told a packed press conference at the St. Regis Hotel in Rome: “After Barack Obama’s victory I think we might have reached the moment for a colored 007. I think the role is well suited to a colored actor, because the character created by Ian Fleming in the ’50s has undergone a great deal of evolution and continues to be updated.” He added, “However, I think this eventually would probably make Fleming turn in his grave.” Although a Brit, Craig went on to praise Obama, saying, “I’m a true fan of Obama and have always been because the political ideas that come out of his speeches seem authentic.”
